Mays has been a disappointment. This team is completely stagnant on offense when Waters isn’t on the court. SFA and Bama both denied Waters the ball and were somewhat effective. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this strategy more going forward.

Mays cannot create his own shot or shots for other players when running the point. He is an okay spot up shooter, but isn’t great off the dribble and can’t finish when he does get to the rim. We will be in serious trouble if Waters goes down or gets into foul trouble.

I expect to see a whole lot of Waters and Smart on the court together next year, and I think you NEED Smart to run point when Waters isn’t in the game.

Johnny Jones habits are hard to break for Mays.

Mays is not an elite player but he's a valuable contributor, he's got a good attitude (no drama from the guy) and will get better. That said, Smart probably will be an elite player and will likely take minutes away from Mays. I'm glad Mays is on the team.

Wade will adapt and the players will continue to get better.

Mays has value and will be a solid player off the bench, but he has no business running the point.

As bad as the refs were, we got absolutely destroyed on the boards. Hard to win when that’s the case

I think Mays is solid and next year will be a really good player. He gets caught getting a bit over-aggressive. I think his celling is higher than you but to each their own.

We need Edwards to start knocking down his 3s again and take some pressure off the other guys. He's gone a bit cold, but it'll come back.

Agreed. We block out but don't attack the ball.

Though tonight we struggled to even box out.

If javonte is as good as advertised he should start over mays. Mays could be first man off the bench for both waters and smart and get starter minutes basically. We have little depth in the post, bama seemed to be able to take advantage. They pushed us out to the 3 pt line and they were able to bother us enough that those were not going down.

This surprisingly wasn't the case though in the first few SEC games when LSU took him out and LSU continued to score and do well. The announcers even made remarks about it. But our whole team was off tonight. Epps was the only one with some decent looking shots.

I didn’t understand the first 5 minutes of the game. Wade subbed a lot. He even took Tremont out after he picked up that foul. I was scratching my head on that one and then he put him back in. Then I think he took him back out. I can’t remember I’ll have to go back and look. Subbed a lot! Way more than at Ar-Kansas.

I noticed a lot tonight that our guards would get semi beat off the dribble and Duop, Epps, and rachel would come to help and end up giving up an open layup. That’s why Onwuasor and Rachel got a lot of minutes... They are great defenders.

I love Wade, but it wasn't his best night. I'm not even sure what our game plan was, but we should have pressured them much earlier than we did because when we finally did, they started having problems and turned it over repeatedly late in the game.

Bama were the aggressors and their plan was to bump, hand check and be more physical than LSU all night. It worked. And with those particular refs, it really worked. LSU was super soft on D. We barely had any hard fouls.

Yeah.... I was impressed with Bama. I don’t watch them much but they have some good gaurds that can slash and get to the rack. They didn’t seem very big so maybe that has something to do with the approach. I don’t know.

Their guards are tall though. This was about as well as Bama has played - go figure. Their own fans were saying they thought they would probably lose tonight even though they have more talent than LSU.

They’re the biggest team we’ll play all year. Bama also have a lot of depth.

Figures. Oh well, win some and lose some. I’m sure Wade had them running after the game regardless of the outcome.

The good news is that even without Smart and a true low post player they are competing until the end against just about everyone they play. If you give yourself a chance at the end you are going to win your fair share of games.

Smart should be a second crunch time scorer to go along with Waters. When the defense can’t focus on stopping one guy you can win more close games.

Bump. Mays had a rough night tonight. Our backcourt will be even better next year.

Yeah, wasn't great... I actually like Onwausor handling the ball if it's not Waters, he's good on the dribble and has decent vision
