We may end working out good on this deal, but let’s not kid ourselves Cregg’s failure to land Tristan Leigh was the reason O showed him the door!

Tristan Leigh was down to LSU and Clemson. He said he was going to commit to a school at an All American game. He secretly signed with Clemson during the early signing period and neither he nor Clemson announced it. Cregg continued to recruit Leigh thinking LSU was still in it. All recruiting after he signed was a violation.

the article I read said he was contacting and sending gear to a recruit during the Covid dead period.

His termination letter from LSU stated the he knew his contact was impermissible when he engaged in it.

ETA: the entire basis of his lawsuit was that the NCAA hadn't ruled on his behavior. Now they have and now he cannot visit recruits off campus for 3 years.

So if signing with Clemson was a big secret, how was Cregg supposed to know to stop recruiting him?

That's not at all what this was about.

He met him on a visit during covid when visits weren't allowed and drove them around and gave lsu gear etc.

The violations don’t have anything to do with him signing with Clemson.

LSU self-imposing a $5,000 fine to get a Level II violation that will help it win back a $500,000 wrongful termination judgment for Cregg is *chef's kiss*

If we have an adverse judgment I do not see how thsi new development assists us. The appeal will involve ONLY matters introduced in the trial court. This ruling comes after the trial, is not in the record and will not be considered by the court of appeal.

I bet the legal fees are at $200k right now and $500k when it’s all said and done. Does LSU really win by not paying?

Well, he recruited Dellinger and Campbell, so LSU at least got something out of him.
