You saying he couldn’t have done the same by playing another year?

What does any of that have to do with me, a guy who roots for LSU football?

I get everyone has different circumstances, but why didn’t people opt out 20 years ago? Players had a chance to make life changing money in 2002 just like 2022. As a matter of fact, rookies made more money back then.

It works for Bama players.

Hell, they stay their senior year a lot of times.

I guess all of our players that are even above average should opt out too. We can just field freshman to play.

Well he wouldn’t have been suspended for a little WEEEEEED at Bama

He skipped the bad publicity of a suspension and trained like a madman.

It paid off

Good for him Geaux Bengals, Bayou & Cincy’s

Perhaps from a contract standpoint. But social media and the internet boom has now has afforded these guys way more endorsement opportunities now than it did back then. It’s where a great deal of their income comes from these days

Has does his performance today or his combine performance have anything to do with him quitting on his team?

Maybe things have changed in twenty years. Why aren’t we still riding horses to work? Why is blockbuster not still around?

They did, they just said, "sitting out with injury" instead of opting out.

Would've been outshined by Heisman winning WR with a better QB on a better team with a better coach that doesn't take chicks he's banging to practice. He would not have improved his stock by coming back playing for a beach bum coach in what turned out to be an asterisk joke of a season. Instead he read the room and had enough confidence in what he already put on tape to be the top player taken at his position. The draft PROVED that confidence was correct.

I felt really old just now when I read the first sentence and was thinking “early 90’s”

Then you reminded me it’s 2022. a-hole.

Yeah the dumbasses who were saying this would affect him in the NFL has been proven wrong both by how high he ended up being drafted and how he has performed this year

What chance? Living scared is not a great way to function. Fear monger it is a disease. Mask up, get your booster and never leave your house. That’ll help you limit a chance of something bad happening.

We're all proud homers and as homers he should have played. As a Chase fan he made the absolute right decision. He wouldn't have improved his drat stock one bit.

EDIT: NIL contracts might have a small impact on opt outs. We could have NIL deals tied to play for X years if un injured? Maybe? That's an angle

It's fascinating to me how many people have to break things down into ____ or ____ just so they can wrap their brains around it.

I mean, I understand why and how our brains are molded that way from our youth but it's still fascinating to me.

Life doesnt work that way though. Things aren't black and white. They are not static. Our world is not this or that. Lines are crossed, they're grey and they move.
