Behind a high school shortstop and the two Vandy pitchers.
Two LSU commits listed at numbers 39 and 40. May be tough to get those two to school.
Dylan Crews listed #1 in the 2023 ranking, which doesn't mean a ton at this point...but does serve to back up the preliminary returns on the production to start the year.

He is ranked number 5 on MLB.com. They say he has a chance with a good year to be the 1st overall pick. On another note it is pretty awesome two African American pitchers will be selected top 10.

Why? If they’re good they’re good.

I am not going to derail the thread, but if you don't see the significance of that I am not explaining it.

Because "If they're good, they're good" hasn't always been the standard for black athletes as pitchers specifically.
Not necessarily in college, but in lower levels leading to an artificial reduction in the number of black pitchers in general.
Still kind of a big issue with catchers.

I agree with him; why are you even noticing their race?

Because it's important for the game of baseball. Last comment about race I will respond to as I don't want this thread to go off the rails.

When was that?

Probably since integration.

There is always a push to move them to some other position to better take advantage of their perceived athleticism.
In the past, there was also an undercurrent of thought that the catcher position was too cerebral for black players to excel at it. Both the athleticism thing and the "cerebral" thing mirror past issues with black quarterbacks.

Talent = talent. It shouldn't matter what their color is. If people would quit focusing on race, then we wouldn't have the division that we have in society today. Quit dividing people by race, we're all human, and we're all on this world together. Some just pitch better than others.

So at current day, black people aren't allowed at specific positions because of their race?

Is that racism? Isn't that simply taking advantage of a players skill set and putting him in the best position to fully utilize his skills?

K, so how does that apply to today?

Shut up.
Congratulations to Jaden Hill. He’s going to get paid and deserves it.

I’m recounting known issues from baseball history and some people are uncomfortable with it.

I mean, it’s pretty cool that two AAs are top 10. Not sure why that sent off a rant. Do we not count Dominicans or does it have to be USA?
