The failed WR/F-back experiment last year cost him Safety reps that put him behind others. Then missed practices and spring game with injury.

Can he make up enough ground to get any meaningful playing time at Safety this year? Or just limited 3 S nickel packages? And if Fulton can play, those opportunities will dwindle.

He wasn't going to pass Delpit last year regardless. But I wonder where he'd be in the pecking order if he had never switched positions, and if that's the only thing holding him back right now?

Delpit and Monroe are firmly ahead of him, likely Todd Harris as well. If he was better than any of them he would’ve been a safety last season. The coaches knew it was unlikely he’d get playing time but didn’t want to waste his freshman season.

I’m not sure if he played special teams every game or not, because he didn’t, they may be able to retroactively redshirt him.

No. I have heard that the reason he changed positions from S to WR/H back was because he was down in the pecking order at safety and was given a try on offense with the hopes of getting him on the field sooner. He is to good a player to ride the bench but we are just so deep at safety these days

I just dont quite understand moving a guy from safety where he would have gotten more reps to WR where we are as loaded as anywhere.

Im not questioning the coaches decisions since Im not there, but he was recruited as a safety and wasnt given enough time imo.

Yeah im not much of a basketball fan ill admit. Stevens would be better at goalie or left field if I had to guess.

Edit: DrewSimp born in 82 fricking gets it! Any questions you have, message this guy. He’ll have your answer without actually saying it! He’s a great guy.

To my knowledge (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), the new 4 game redshirt rule change will not be retroactive.

He participated in UTC, Syr, Aub, OM, and ND games though. Only stats in UTC and Syr.

I think he would make a great OLB in this defense similar to Corey Thompson. He’s already got a big frame. If he could get up to about 230 and keep his agility, he could wreak havoc there.

That was obvious to anyone who isn’t trying to gaze at his star rating

He's still an incredibly gifted athlete, if he sticks around Aranda will find a role that fits him well

I don't know if anyone here knows what is going on or went on with that situation. But it certainly appears from the outside that the staff completely mishandled him.

I don’t suppose he can’t play cornerback any? We could use some depth there.

We hantes to get on the field last year. Didn’t want to redshirt so they put him in position where he could potentially play the most downs.

It’s mind blowing how he’s not starting after watching his film in high school I thought for sure he would be starting by year 2. Maybe he will be a late bloomer.

He is a very gifted athlete and we were well stocked at saftey last season. He was offered the opportunity to be one of those guys that they wanted to get the ball to in space. As it turned out our offense was shite and he did not get much in way of opportunity.

Also if you remember we had the Canada offense last year with the every other play jet sweep. He figured into that strategy as well. With Canada gone and the depth issues on this squad he belongs in DB group. He was recovering from injury in Spring but he did not miss anything that cost him ground. He will be on the field in Sept in some form.

Maybe there is a thing as too much depth? I mean, these are 5 star guys that would play pretty much anywhere else in the country. I know it’s a competition, but at some point you have to consider where mishandling a situation could look bad to prospective recruits.
