Jack Mashburn unsung hero of Fla game
I forced myself to rewatch the KY game early last week just trying to see if I could understand why we were failing so badly in the run game.

Up to then, after focusing on the O-line in the other games I rewatched, I had concluded that Shanahan being dominanted so often was the main reason we couldn't run.

I had not really been watching Kole Taylor very much but when Mashburn came in in the 2nd half and we started having some success on the ground I went back and watched him in the 1st half. It was quite a revelation. Taylor was REALLY bad at blocking with half-hearted attempts dominating the snaps he participated in, resulting in his failures dooming most running plays.

I havent gone back and watched any of the earlier games yet to focus on Taylor, but Mashburn's sheer effort and blocking ability was a night and day difference from Taylor. Perhaps this was the key to some continued success in the run game going forward.

Shanahan got his lunch ate yesterday and we still had success. You are right, Mashburn deserves all the credit.

Of course the problem wasn't Shanahan. You can't expect the center to win one on one battles against the opponents best d-linemen. O-Lines don't work that way.

The true unsung hero was Deculus who finally got a chance to do what he does best: run block.
