I don't want to see him more than about 235ish though.

If he is already 225 as reported, he will easily surpass that just from natural maturation. With his frame this move just makes sense considering it would have been hard to keep him below 235 with normal growth and with working out. He could easily be an athletic 250 lb flex TE by the time he leaves LSU for the NFL.

20 years ago they wouldn’t consider that big enough for tight ends. 6’2” could be the smallest TE in sec history. That being said, hope he does great

I highly highly doubt we see Bech anywhere near 250 by the time he leaves LSU. The guy is 6'1-6'2 range, he'll play in the 225-235 range throughout his career. He's not a 6'4-6'5 guy, you dont really want him at 250 at his height, would destroy his speed/athleticism.

I see him as a Richard Dickson type size wise max, but way more athletic than he was.

He will be a great "receiving" tight end, which I see as closer to a slot receiver than a tight end.

I couldn’t describe how they would use him but Waller is a great comparison!

Where do these people come from

George Kittle, the consensus #2 TE in the NFL is 6'3"

Does the 1 inch Bech is giving up mean that much to people?

Also, Kittle was 210 lbs as an incoming freshman at Iowa. Bech is currently heavier than that

So if he’s a TE that’s flexed out in the slot, then that’s good, right? Or is it good, if he’s a WR lined up in the slot? Can anyone explain to me what the difference is? If he’s flexed out, doesn’t matter what his position is… am I missing something? Lol

George Kittle as a college freshman

Jack Bech in high school

Which one looks "too small" for TE?

I mean thad moss was 6’1”.

And more and more TE’s are entering the nfl in that 6’2”- 6’3” range

Urban Meyer kind of pioneered these shorter, undersized TE’s in the SEC. guys like Trey Burton & Jordan Reed aren’t much bigger than Bech. And you could stretch it out to Aaron Hernandez, who was a tad bit thicker

I've only seen him play vs Catholic. But, he looked like Adam Sandler playing dodgeball with the kindergarteners. He was toying with the Catholic defense. I'm so excited to see him on the field in the offense that we're supposed to see.

A TE flexed out in the slot will likely get more mis-matches than a WR lined up there. You bring in a slot WR, the defense will counter by bringing in a nickel corner. If you bring in a TE and line up in run formation, then flex the TE out, you are more likely to get a LB or SS covering him as opposed to a twitchy corner/DB. A slot WR will mostly draw coverage from a corner or nickle/slot corner.

Waller, Kittle, Kelce, Reed, they are more of a bigger WR than a TE, not as great run blockers but tough to cover in the passing game.

I’m not sure why people actually thought he would be a straight up WR
You think he’s going to be an inline blocking TE? No chance

That’s Kole Taylor all day

Bech will be an H-back TE that plays in the slot more than on the line

Kole taylor needs to clean up his blocking this year.

Hopefully the added weight helps.

Bech is going to catch a bunch of balls this year.

Kole Taylor is not an SEC caliber blocking TE and his grades last year were by far the lowest on the team.
He needs to spend more time in weight room and at training table.
