If you think all he does is throw the ball then I'm thinking you haven't actually watched or researched his offense at all, so I'll fill you in. Here is the rushing and passing attempts for Houston this year.

Passing: 200/322 for 2843 Yards

Rushing : 362 attempts for 2091 Yards

So.......the fact that Houston has more rushing attempts than passing attempts would lead you to believe he throws it 70 times a game?

ETA: You also realize that the Briles offense consistently lead the country in rushing yards and total offense correct? Probably not.

We've had sub-par recruiting and lots of attrition on the OL going back many years now. It's been a weakness that has to be corrected if LSU is going to get back to being a serious year in, year out contender.

t makes the D account for him and can also show man or zone pre snap. we had geniuses here say we did not need all that last year even though it worked well with canada.

Agreed. I believe we scored a touchdown to a wide open receiver/TE in the bama game because of motion.

thing is it worked all year along with fakes and misdirection canada almost always had a triple option on eac h play. OMG is we had burrow with zone reads also in his offense it really woulda been great. canada never got to implement the fake jet sweep throwback screen or throwback to the TE like he did at PITT. he did use some shovel pass though like CUM used at UF. he woulda been even better this year. his concepts worked with a limited team last year.

it is always a group effort...
Moreau and the back block or try to
Burrow must throw the ball on time
coaches have to scheme to allow for a good pass rush

never solely any one units fault

From what I can tell, 0 has not upgraded the offense despite earlier claims to the contrary. LSU has faced some good fronts in MSU and Auburnt and could generate some offense. How can one explain the shocking performance against the gumps? Saying the no one on the o-line can play does not seem credible to me

LSU has struggled with the offensive line all year. The issue didn't just crop up Saturday. Coach O will have to go into juco again this year looking for Oline talent. There are definitely a couple that haven't lived up to the hype.

I'm just jumping in to say I hope all is well, ben. My uncle just got some not so wonderful news and it made me think about your battle. I'm pulling for you, bro. As always.

The shovel pass was a fun wrinkle that I wish they had used more. Etling would also fake the shovel after a hand off while the runner would try to get around the end. It's little things like that that can freeze a defense for a split second to bust a big play.

For everyone that called all the motion "useless", you could actually see a lot of method to the madness.

To me, the sure fire way to know someone doesnt know football, is they immediately go to "Its the line!!!" as their calling card. It shows they have heard that once from someone, so they beat that drum up and down the street forever

So it wasn't the offensive line that allowed Bama's defense to run free in LSU'S backfield all night. I'm glad to hear it. I thought that the Oline was overmatched.

My point exactly. Something is fishy when LSU plays the gumps. It does not stand to reason that they forget how to block against those people

I’ve been saying this all along.. We tried the short passing game to help the o line out and that didn’t work.. The running game never got going because of the oline.. Bama never put more than 8 in the box.. That’s not scheme.. we got outplayed in the trenches..

If Briles is so great, why is he in Houston?

Florida hit Burrow from the blindside way too many times.

Bama did it too.

When you are a QB and you see your line collapse repeatedly , you start to get jumpy and nervous.

This offensive line is absolutely trash, and it has to get better, or the stats will never reflect it.

Mett had all year to throw. If Burrow had a clean pocket 80% of the time, his numbers would be phenomenal right now.

Was it the o-line in 2016 too when we got shutout by Bama?

We had a great o-line IMO in 2016

All of what you said will work,,,,,,,,, until you play Bama. LSU will never have a chance to beat Bama, until they have Bama talent. Then it comes down to coaching.

No we did not....we were good...good enough for the average SEC schools.....

But not great...and definitely not good enough to stop Bama

It's more than just the line. The line is 1 issue though.

Tough to compete with a team who pays players and uses PEDs though.

play calling.

So play calling is meaningless. It's just have a bigger o line and win every game. Got it.
