It's Auburn hate week. 1999: When they disrespected us as they lit cigars on OUR turf.

Note: This is part 2 in a daily series this week intended to educate the current student body and other newer fans on the hatred that exists between LSU and Auburn. Get Tiger Stadium rocking on Saturday!

Aubie Cole Cubelic discusses the game.

In 1999, Auburn came into BR, got the win, and proceeded to light up cigars on OUR field after the game, enraging the LSU faithful. This lead to a revenge smoke cloud in Tiger Stadium two years later in December, 2001, when LSU captured the western division crown at home and thousands of LSU fans lit up cigars in Death Valley.

To this day, tons of LSU fans light up cigars after a win against Auburn, home or away, in what many dub the "cigar game."

PART 1

That photo looks weird with the scoreboard leaning like that.

Oh, and I've got a few cigars already purchased for when we win Saturday. I'll be saving my exhales for when I pass aubbie fans outside the stadium.

My first game as an LSU season ticket holder. They weren’t hard to get back then. I’d driven all the way from Huntsville, AL the night before. I was so excited and we lost so fricking badly.

99 was a bad year.

The trashy behavior displayed by Auburn's football team around that time came directly from their trash coach.

Since I don’t smoke, may I cut one one them instead?

The ONLY proper finish to the iron bowl..

A 3-3 tie and the stands collapse before they start overtime.

All other outcomes are worthless.

Worst case? Rent a cop tells you to put it put? Ignore them. Trooper tells you to put it out? Put it out.

Yep. The 99 team quit on Dinardo pretty much before the season started. 41-7. loved smoking cigars in front of the auburn section after LSU beat them in 01.
