Yes, but they didn't have ANY pockets immediately preceeding Dale, and he also took LSU to a couple of Final Fours And I still think they win it all in 81 if Macklin doesn't hurt his hand.

LSU made 6 Elite Eight and 3 Final Four appearances under brown and Brady right? And didn't they go to like 12 straight NCAA tournaments at one point under brown? That's more than a few pockets of successs. I like the hire a lot but he needs to catch up on LSU basketball history.

I think he was spot on - Brown was the best we've ever had, which wasn't sustained success. He arguably overachieved and underachieved...It was inconsistent and primarily relationship/motivationally driven. Wade is saying 'Let's take all aspects of the game in to consideration' and I love it.

He's said the 80s were great. The pockets of success comment was referring to post 80s.

I would argue Dale brown was anything but inconsistent during most of his tenure. The team was relevant and almost always made the tournament. Brady was inconsistent.

After '87 Dale only won two more tournament games. The big name players made us relevant not our team accomplishments.

I heard him mention pockets of success but missed that he said it relative to being post-brown. If he did then it's ok. Just sounded from what I heard that he didn't fully understand the basketball history of LSU. I must have missed it. My bad

Actually, he said Brown had phenomenal success.

You're off some:
2 Final Fours
4 Elite 8s
4 SEC Titles

He did go to 15 straight tournaments (10 straight NCAA tournaments) and 13 in 15 years. He also went 17 years without having a losing season. He definitely had sustained success. He was just inconsistent even in that success.

Yeah he definitely acknowledged the success of the Brown era.

He was born in the 80s. Dale Brown might as well be James Naismith to him.

I never heard anything relating to post-Brown either.

I'm not offended by someone calling the Dale Brown era could be a pocket of success, though. Of course, I'm not a hyper-sensitive rantard either.

If you look at that era there were a few multi-year runs of great success with a few mediocre years mixed in.

I think he said the Brown era was a success, but the "pockets" were after that.

he started by listing the final 4s, etc. and then said we're gonna get more

also said he's long considered the program "an absolute sleeping giant" so seems like he reveres the history and wants to get back to it, then build on it

Dale Brown brought an excitement back to LSU basketball finally after the Pete Maravich days.
