It is still a competition at QB

Based on what has been going around, I'd think it's safe to say Daniels is in the lead.. for now, but I think Nuss still has time to get the job. (He missed reps early last week due to a tweaked ankle)
Here's what BK said about the QB competition after Saturday:
I take that Daniels was the best during the 3rd down periods, but as BK said they've still got to work on the red zone & other situations this week so "they can start to separate".
I think Nussmeier is still very much in the competition for the starting job. I'm extremely confident that whichever one starts against Florida State will be the best man for the job.
Here's what BK said about the QB competition after Saturday:
quote:
I always felt like our quarterbacks need to protect themselves. Today was about third down. They have to know the protections.. get us in the right protections and convert on third down. Just as defenses have to get off the field on third down, you have to keep the chains moving. So today was a big day on understanding the protections, knowing how to protect yourself, and getting the ball out. This is a day where you get some separation.. days like today, quarterbacks start separating themselves. We'll see some more separation when we get into the red zone where you need to throw touchdowns.. and accuracy. So over the next week or so, we'll be putting our quarterbacks into situations where they can start to separate and that's really where I think, for me, the great quarterbacks really start to show themselves.

I agree with everything you said. I trust Kelly to make the right decision. Bayou boys (in my best russell Wilson voice) - let’s ride!

It never was
We were told the offense would fit the personnel. Denbrock wanted a dual threat QB, and when he got here he didnt have one. He found Daniels, and proceeded thru the entire summer and spring trying to stick a round peg into a square hole, but Daniels just couldnt separate himself from the others. All Denbrock wants is a Ridder clone. Hes stuck on stupid
I aint all that excited about this year. Vegas is probably right about a 7 win season

There’s no competition. Daniels was going to be the starting QB the day they signed him.

right.. I guess BK/Denbrock are just clever pranksters & tricking us all with their fake "QB battle". Poor Nussmeier has no clue

the best case scenario would be if Jayden Daniels turns into a Desmond Ridder clone. However, what you're describing is that Denbrock is trying to fit the personnel to his "Ridder" offense. They've told us they're doing the opposite i.e. adjust the offense to fit the starting qb.

Internet user Robb Bobb thinks he knows offense better than mike denbrock

I don't, but it's been heavily implied that Daniels is in the lead. We had a stickied thread saying that WWL confirmed Daniels as the starter.

As BK said, that depends on if one QB separates himself from the other! If that doesn’t happen in the scrimmage tomorrow, the competition continues probably into next week.

Based on what? Legit question. Footage? Something else BK said? Media reports? Prior practices? Because none of this quote appears to me to imply anything.

The real competition has started since Brennan couldn’t hack it, it’s become a two man race. Both are very capable
