It is really close as to whether Warren Morris' walk-off should have even happened

I watched the game and rewound many times and then watched the SEC Featured's "The Walk-off" and I don't see how Brad Wilson was called safe.

When I saw it I was thinking "Damn, I'm an LSU fan but that dude was OUT!!! Cora had the ball before Wilson ever got to the base. Ref must have been an LSU fan

And this one with NO HANDS on the bag

quote:

Then again, Morris almost never came up to bat in the ninth on June 8. Miami late replacement left fielder Eddie Rivero made a great throw to second to try to get Wilson, who was trying to stretch his lead-off single into a double.

“The throw beat him there, but Wilson did a backdoor slide and threw his hand in the air and got it on the base,” Bertman said. “I still thought the ump would call him out because the throw beat him, but he called him safe.”

quote:

“It’s just crazy how it unfolded,” Bertman said.

The story of Morris’ monumental walk-off home run — the only one in the history of college and Major League Baseball to win a World Series in a winner-take-all- game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth

quote:

“I joke with my wife that if I was called out there, we wouldn’t be living in Baton Rouge today; we’d be living in Pittsburgh,” Wilson said, laughing.

22 should have been thrown out of the game for pulling Brad’s left hand off the base. Unsportsmanlike IMO.

Yea, the broadcast of that game, filmed with a potato, is so reliable.

Well, to be fair, the ump was in perfect position and got the best look

ETA plus we deserved a call in our favor with that awful plate ump giving UM 3 inches off the black on curveballs

It's more that you're bringing this up 25 years later. Who gives a chit?

He who does not have a clue should check thread titles on the front page of this forum before sticking something in their big stupid mouth.

Cora never had the ball. He played shortstop. The only participation Cora had in that play was to come over and bitch about Wilson being called safe. Then again, Cora was bitching and crying for most of that game.

I haven't watched the game in a long time but I do know for sure the ump behind the plate was not a Tiger fan. he was horrible. He made a lot of bad calls in Miami's favor in that game.

Yes, I was gonna bring that up

Also worth noting was Dunn running through the stop sign with a pulled hammy.

And who the hell are you? What makes you special.

I'd argue calling someone a loser for no reason is loser behavior

What if in the umpires judgement Cora's tag pulled Wilson's arm causing Wilson's hand to come off the bag?

strike zone was ridiculous. The first UM batter walked and at least two of those pitches were right down the middle.

Even though he has no hands on the bag, it doesn’t appear that the globe is touching him either. Can’t see from that angle, but the ump basically motioned that, so I’ll go with the ump.
