Do y’all really think that the culmination of Florida, Auburn, Bama, UGA, and OU really haven’t tried everything humanly possible on defense already?

Hell, they’ve even tried holding and that couldn’t stop our offense.

frick this still feels like a dream.

Venables isn’t better than Saban, Kirby, Grantham, Steele, Elko, etc. None of them figured it out. Steele slowed it down but Clemson doesn’t have those DL.

BINGO. too many weapons. an NFl QB who reads defenses like a doctor suess childrens book.

and when they do keep up with a receiver we win the 50-50 jump ball battles because joe puts it right where it supposed to be. perfect back shoulder fade, tight windows, you name it. decimating to defenses.

we have seen it all.

hey brent venables

he is top 3 but saban technically is the best DC in the nation

it has always been his defenses

willie B muschump, kirby not so smart, jeremy pruitt alway ran saban's schemes. saban had good defense in cleveland and miami contrary to popular myth.

Clemson should not change their scheme for LSU. Alot of teams did and it still didn't matter. Clemson should just play their defense, it has worked for years. Why change it.

Won't matter anyway

Grinch was known to the same kind of stunts/fake looks that Venables does.

It didnt really matter, however they did fail to adjust literally anything, so we just kept going back to the same weaknesses the whole time.

Agree. Some of the jump ball throws Joe has made have looked risky but our receivers have won the battle all year. When Superman-Joe looks human, his receivers look all universe. Nasty combination to defend. It is more than a DC can scheme for. He better hope his players outplay our guys because we are attacking his D.

I used to think this as well, but his interview with Herbstreit pointed out his reasoning (paraphrasing):

“I’ll always make those throws when the DB keeps his back turned.”

I can’t remember the game, but there was one INT where the corner turned around at the last second and simply made a great play.

It’ll take great plays like that to stop it, which makes those throws a lot more favorable than 50/50.
