With a Saturday series start, do we hold him till Monday? He has been looking better than the Lange and Poche for the past few weeks, but lacks the experience that I think CPM would want on the mound. Lange and Poche have seniority and really have earned the right to Sat, Sun. Even though Walker has been better lately, the team leaders would want Lange and Poche to get the chance to Win it. If it were my call, Walker would only pitch if there is a game three. Nice problem to have.

If you go by numbers alone, he's pitching better than Poche and Lange the last 2 months or so....

Scalding hot take.

Paul will try to let Poche tie record

PM is going to fall back on what's comfortable for the players and team. They've had this rotation all year and it has worked so why change it? It's a valid point and I hope the real reason because Poche's record chase needs to be a secondary goal that happens outside of game planning.

IMO, Walker should throw game 2 regardless. I want him there if we go 1-0 to take us to Omaha and I want him there saving our season if we go 0-1. That's not an insult to Poche but rather high praise for Walker. If we still have a game 3, I'd take Poche over anything State has. Would still be a huge advantage.

Perhaps your take on the take stopped short.

Keep the same rotation. Don't mess with it. We are fine with all three guys.

Who's been pitching for the last 2 weeks with the championship game mindset? The only guy who has pitched in 2 championship games...Walker.

Personally, I like the idea. Walker pitched with the SEC Title on the line, with no thought of a "tomorrow" because they had to win that game. They had a fall back in the regional, but he still went out and was lights out to win the Regional.

That being said, I doubt Paul messes with the rotation too much (even though Sunday would be natural for a Walker start).

Especially the last two games Walker has been locked in. No doubt. I wouldn't expect PM too, but if he were to start him in gm. 2 vs MSU, I wouldn't bitch.

How about this as a pure hypothetical...
Gm 2 vs MSU, Poche starts, 5th inning, LSU has 2 run (no more than 4) lead, Poche starts getting hitter counts and showing some loss of control, batters are on their 3rd AB seeing him.

You bring in Walker to go 2-3 innings to seal the Super instead of bullpen against a good hitting MSU team with lots of come-back wins this year.

I don't see much downside. I see the risk for next game if things go sideways, but the idea is to reduce that risk by bringing in Walker in the first place.

ETA: finally screwed up and said Watson instead of Walker, fixed.

It's the safe route for sure and no one should question it. But there's a lot to consider:

- Walker has been our best pitcher of late.
- Walker hasn't had any real "rest" yet this season and could possibly use it.
- But the same maybe could be said for Poche who has seen his velocity fall a ton both from game to game and from inning to inning in individual games.
- If we go 0-1, do you throw Walker who's going to pound the zone and is the better overall pitcher? Or do you throw the veteran who has been in game 2 all year?

We're on a what 13-14 game streak right now...walker didn't pitch all those games.

Lange has been lights out as well his passed couple outings, he got jumped on in 2 innings and shut em down.

Poche got 0 help from his defense as evidence by his 1 ER. Besides, TSU scored more on Rice than we did.

Putting it all together, pitching-hitting-defense, is what's going to get us to and through Omaha, not the pitching rotation.

Only thing we need to worry about right now is MSU...and Coomes's injury.
