I was a young kid in the 90’s not invested in sports at all. So tell me older folks is this what the 90’s felt like?

Yes until Kevin Faulk showed up and gave us hope. Dinardo killed the hope eventually.

Funny you should ask. I was just thinking about how it was in 1994 when I was at LSU. I recall what got me through that season as a student was that Icehouse beer was introduced at $5 a case.

Using ziploc bags to sneak Crown Royal into the student section also made watching the games more enjoyable.

Expectations were much much lower. Just wanted a bowl game and to beat Ole Miss.

The 90s were worse. Much worse.

I was there during the DiNardo years. Honestly, I was more excited about LSU football then than I am now. Of course, as a student, I was probably just more excited about the big parties before the games.

Miami of Ohio was our Troy. That loss started the free fall. Archer lost his job after that season.
Curley came in and losing by 4 touchdowns was the norm to SEC foes other than the MS schools. PlayIng the ball coach and Gene Stallings teams were especially brutal. Tulane beat us one year in tiger stadium if I remember right. I was an undergrad and drank a whole lot to get thru football season. Giant stadium cups of Jim beam and Coke and maybe a good fight would break out with some overzealous traveling fans in the bars. They threw out two FlA guys making out on the dance floor at Sports one night. Bama frats in Murphys where massive d-bags and watched a couple of the best bar brawls I've ever seen involving them. LSU 2- Bama 0 on that count.

An old buddy texted me a picture of Hallman last night after the loss ps.

The mid/late 90’s were fun. We were on our way up. We had some of our best players ever like Booger, Gabe Northern, Eddie Kennison, Kev Faulk, etc.

We whipped Saban’s arse and Notre Dame in Bowl games.

There was a lot of positive energy and it was a fun time to be an LSU fan.

we had 6 straight LOSING seasons 89 to 94 followed by 3 winning years then two more losing years 98 98 before LSU finally decided to get serious about football.

so if we finish with a losing record this year multiply it by 6.....at least. maybe 8 if you want to dinardos two losing years.

Not really, back then we cheered even though we knew they were not good. Now we expect more than the team is showing.

No, this is what 1989 felt like. We had been pretty good in the years leading up to '89. I don't think anyone anticipated 4-7 in the preseason.
