A guy at lunch was certain that if we had a loss that we would be out for sure.

It's a playin game for sure.

First of our playoffs. No guarantee of anything should we lose.

Tell your lunch date he's wrong. LSU & OSU will still make the CFP with losses on Saturday

It'll look like this, if LSU *gasp* loses (assuming Ohio St and Clemson both win):

1 Ohio St
2 Clemson
3 Georgia
4 LSU

We are playing for the SEC Championship. SEC titles mean something. We can worry about the CFP starting Saturday at about 8pm EST. :-)

Toss this thread in with the "Will Jeaux win the Heisman?" if he just has an "average game" idiocy.

LSU is in ...... PERIOD!

The same committee who dropped LSU from number 1 after a road SEC rout because Ohio State is more “complete” will hold LSU’s fate in their hands should they lose. If you trust them to put LSU in because of their resume after a loss, you could be sorely disappointed. We need to win this game and win it big so hopefully we get a number 1 seed.

LSU and Ohio St SOS and ranked wins are so far ahead of everyone else's that it's going to take a very bad loss to be on the outside looking in.

It probably shouldn't be, but you can bet the arguments that a non-conf. champ (LSU) shouldn't get in over a conf. champ with the same record (OU or Baylor or Utah) will range far and wide if LSU loses. The question then would be does the committee seek to avoid the criticism by keeping LSU out since the SEC would already have one team in the playoff (UGA)?

In fact, I think an LSU loss would bring us closer to a 6-8 team playoff than ever before as the Big 12 and Pac 12 would go apoplectic if the SEC got two teams in while their one loss conf. champs stayed home.

Point being for LSU -- win the game and foreclose any possibility of getting screwed for "political" purposes

Yes. I have zero faith the committee will include as after a loss.

SEC titles mean very little to the general public. If LSU loses to Ga & wins the Natty, Tiger fans will explode with happiness & buy Championship merchandise galore.

If vice versa, NOBODY cares. Ask 2011.

But, to the point, if there’s any fairness Tigers are in playoffs win or lose against Ga.

I agree with this.

But this could mean LSU vs. Georgia in the championship game.

“They” don’t want that.

Also

Are the locations fixed?

In other words does #1 and #4 play in Atlanta no matter what the teams are?

No, the 1 seed gets the site that’s more “advantageous” to them. It could mean closer proximity but the committee has the ultimate say in this. Some of the projections I heard on the radio today had LSU as a 2 seed but playing Clemson in Atlanta.

What if they both lose? Might look like

1. Clemson - undefeated
2. UGA - 1 loss SEC Champ
3. LSU - 1 loss SEC runner up
4. OSU - 1 loss B1G runner up
5. Baylor / OU - 1 Loss Big12 Champ
6. Utah (if they win) - 1 Loss Pac 12 champ
7. Wisconsin - 2 loss Big Champ
8. Florida - 2 Losses
9. Auburn - 3 Losses (win against Bama)
10. Alabama - 2 Losses
11. Penn State
12. Oregon
