re: Is it safe to assume Orgeron was more than happy to see Aranda leave?
Dave was the perfect example of a symbiotic school/coach relationship. Worked out for everyone while he was here and as they departed.

That’s right Aranda was his biggest supporter and literally said if O wouldn’t got the job he was gone, he said O was a great leader of men and a special Coach. O just has in his blood to be aggressive on D , but fully respected Aranda and didn’t mess with him, which ended up being right, the D was lights out the last 5 games. O learned his lesson to let Coaches coach their own craft, he’s just excited now with Bo because that’s the D he likes to play. Two great D Coor. with styles on opposite ends of the spectrum but both effective in their own right. Journalists always trying to stir shite but O & Aranda have mad respect and friendship!

Aranda had his mind elsewhere last year. He was ready to move on up.

True if he knew he was getting that call from Baylor. Even if O did not like that Aranda style 3-4 defense, he still respected him, and left him alone for the most part. Glad he did, because our D was lights out the last 4 games.

I agree with this. I bet Aleva knew that Aranda would be leaving in a few years i.e. 1-3 and took a chance on Orgeron. What a gamble.

Aranda was a great DC. I wish him well at Baylor.

I do agree with the genius part and Its not like i was glad to see him go. I think we will still be multiple no? Not quite the same but its not like teams are now licking their chops to face the LSU defense. I think we will be more aggressive.

no, we're still going to be good. getting Pelini back was huge for sure and i have just as much confidence in him as i do Aranda... I think Aranda was just a damn genius... I've spoken with him a few times and listened to a couple convos with recruits and I did my best to ask him a few defensive theory questions and that dude is just sharp as a razor... I hope he does very well at Baylor but I see him more valuable as a DC... i could easily be wrong...

While Aranda has to be accountable for the Ole Miss fiasco last year, let’s not pretend Pelini never had a failing grade as DC While at LSU. Case in point, Arkansas 3 OT loss and KY 3OT loss our 2007 Championship year. This boils down to Defensive philosophy that Coach O prefers in the 4-3, of which Pelini is one of the best in the business. Glad we had BOTH Pelini and Arranda.

The success of systems is dependent on having the right players in place. The players Coach O wanted to get and the players Aranda needed weren't the same. O wants big lineman and attacking style, while Aranda's defense was more bend but don't break and technique dependent. Just like years ago when Dinardo brought in Lou Tepper. His defense was dependent on having great linebackers. In the bowl game he coached, we had Stansberry and Gillyard and his defense looked great, however they were both seniors and we were weak at linebacker and Tepper's defense was terrible.

With the players from this region and the the attacking style O wants, there is no doubt that Pellini is a better fit.

Yes.. so am I. Especially after watch Florida and Alabama again. Thank good ness Bama did not run Najee until the second half. They won’t make that mistake again.

I think O would like to be more aggressive whereas Aranda would rather sit back in zone and keep everything in front.

Except for that TD given to BAMA at the end of the game.
