Advantage LSU simply because we are LSU.

Having a high volume of mature players helps them, and their style of play can give a team problems when they play them early in the season.

Teams generally improve the most from their first game to their second one.

They haven't seen LSU's offense, but LSU hasn't used their offense in a game yet.

I would give a slight advantage to BYU.

BYU version 2017 is not Virginia Tech version 2002. Tech was a top 10-15 program in 2002; BYU is not at that level.

C'mon it's BYU. They could play their whole season prior and LSU would still have the advantage.

It's a positive for both teams

BYU gets to work on things in live action, LSU gets to see the tape.

It's not that big of a factor imo

Why do you think I am comparing VT. and BYU? I am comparing the situation and telling you the outcome of the VT situation.

1. We are LSU
2. We have 2 weeks to prepare for them. Aranda will know this team like the back of his hand.
3. We are LSU

I always want LSU to win, but if they lose, it would shut up the kool-aid drinkers.

My hope is that Aranda can pull together a reliable defense with few returning starters and Canada can utilize a marginal QB talent to implement a viable offense that is more than a nonstop motion machine.

Having said that, I think it is a wash with BYU having a tune up game, older player base and the statement above as input.

Yes. Comparing VT back then to BYU today is not dealing with reality.
