Yes its a huuuge longshot and they're still plenty of quality opponents on our schedule, but if we win out and win an SEC title, what happens? Bama and UGA could still have only a single loss, but this year has a similar feel to 2007 where many top teams keep losing every week. I'd put it at about a .05% chance as of now.

I'm disappointed in how few down votes and smart remarks I received.

Run the table and win SEC. most improved team. I'd put them in but it's not gonna happen

Even if we win out, we have two very bad losses. It would be difficult too

The SEC had the benefit of the doubt over the years but the conference is trash right now

Crazier things has happened but I just don’t see it. Would need a shite ton of outside help. The game yesterday was absolutely amazing, but beating Bama and UGA is a tall order.

It's technically possible. If we win out, including a win against bama, then we win the west. Then we would be in the SEC champ game. Then we could win the SEC. And the SEC winner should go to the playoffs. But I'm not counting on that happening. This last game was very encouraging. If we don't look like arse the rest of the way, I'll count it as a win. That's where I'm resting it. Hoping for National Championships is way too much to think right now.

Jesus Christ this isn't a top ten team much less a play off team.

I'm good with the season as long as we beat A&M and Ole Miss. The biggest obstacle is definitely going to Tuscaloosa and winning. We've looked like a real team for maybe a couple weeks while bama has been doing it the past 5 years.

Can you read or understand basic math? I said huuuge longshot and .05% to make it yet you somehow conceived that I believe this team is one of the best in the country.

Yes, but we would have to go undefeated for the rest of the season.

This would give us a victory against number one Alabama. That unlikely event would aid the Moo State/ Troy debacles. And this assumes a victory against a number 1 or 2 ranked Georgia team in the play offs. Three top ten victories including two number 1s or a 1,2,10 help..

Next we need other strategic upsets in the other P5 conferences and a miraculous 2nd Bama loss would help also.

Would do better to put your money on next year! But who knows, they haven't mailed the Natty to Nick yet!

It's possible, but it would require a titanic effort on the part of the Tigers.

1) Win out the regular season
2) beat an undefeated Georgia in the SEC Championship game

That probably would get them in, considering there's so few dominating teams in college football this year.

Margin of victory is irrelevant. Any win over Alabama and Georgia would be sufficient, as long as the Tigers win the rest of their games.

Five Thirty Eight Predictions

538 has LSU at a 79% chance of making the playoffs if we win out. As long as we're having fun with it, figured I'd look into more.

Of note, 538 has been known to miss on some predictions in the past.
