Booked our flights for that weekend awhile back. Ended up using points for hotel and got (what looks to be) a pretty nice hotel (Kimpton Van Zant). So wife and I talked about just going eating a nice steak Friday night, party, then on Saturday walk around the stadium and go watch it somewhere and party after.
A friend of mine said it was stupid to fly there and not get tickets, but we think it would still be pretty fun.
Thought?...(and no wife pics)

Not crazy. Likely our groups plan as well. Ticket prices are ridiculous. Looking forward to just being there with the rest of Louisiana

Planning on doing the same. I want to be there to party, but don’t feel like shelling out 300 bones for a ticket

Should be a blast, tell your friend to STTDB

There will be a ton of people doing the same thing, it will still be a good time

That's how I feel. We did the same when we played in Houston against Wisconsin and had a blast as well. If ticket prices drop, then maybe so. But the tickets are insane right now.

I’d have to Stubhub me some tickets. Might as well you will be in Austin why not go to the game? Not going to the game yet you forked out all that money makes no sense. That or you are trolling to see how many downvotes you get.

Should still be fun but it would drive me effing nuts to be in Austin and not actually go to the game. Suck it up and buy some nosebleeds .

No, we were in College Station last year and ended up watching the game at f**cking BWW...closed out at the end of regulation.

Luckily we had an ice chest outside the restaurant.

It’ll be a good time but, man, once you get in the pregame atmosphere and catch a buzz, you’re gonna want to go in.

Source: I’ve done it probably 5 times. “I’m just gonna tailgate, not going in.” 5 hours later I’m walking in high fiving every Tiger fan I see with a flask in my waist band.

We got anniversary trip weekend before, going to the Miss St. game already, a trip to Arizona to visit wife's sister, and a beach trip all in 2 months. Trying to make a few cuts here and there.

I have a room in Austin and no tickets. Will see what happens on game day but I'll be content to go and watch it somewhere with other LSU fans. Speaking of which any tips on where a good place might be?

well, I do that all the time for home games- go tailgate, have fun Tiger-baiting folks, etc, then go watch the game somewhere, so -sure, why not?

Given how much money you’ve already saved, it sounds like the trip is worth it, game or no game.

it blows my mind that any big LSU football fan would miss the biggest non conference true road game of most of our lifetimes so far - but to be in the city it is happening in and not go is off the charts to me

We have a group of 12 or so going to Austin.

Probably only 3 of us will actually go to the game.

Clearly the OT ballers are not on the rant.

Well okay that’s logical. Boy that would drive me nuts though to be there and not in that stadium. It would be different if it was a team we play pretty often but I doubt we play Texas at their stadium again in my lifetime. But from a financial standpoint I totally get it.
