In fact he was more critical after the Alabama win, talking about challenging the defense to play to LSU’s standard for 60 mins.

Coaches use the media to push messages to their team all the time.

He was critical after the Bama game because he wanted his team to get over the huge win as quick as possible and move on to the next game.

He wasn’t as critical after Ole Miss because he knows his defense knows they didn’t play well and no need to deliver a message through the media. They will work to get better.

Just bc he doesn’t publicly criticize anyone doesn’t mean he’s happy

Maybe he realizes that we aren't as deep as we think we are? How many transfers have we had from the D this year? Kendall McCallum, Netherly, Joseph and Jones from the D alone, not to mention Cotton, Livingston, and Scott last year. Losing Ed Alexander last year only for him to go undrafted also hurt DL depth.

Losing Justin Thomas, Divinity, and Todd Harris also hurts our depth.

I'm not suggesting that the depth alone is a primary cause for the defensive struggles, or even if any of the transfers could have contributed, but we've also seemed to do poorly at retaining players who did commit and enroll. The 2016 class in particular was decimated, as only 12 players out of 25 remain, and only 16 ever really contributed anything in terms of playing time.

What makes you say that. If you don’t think O isn’t on Aranda’s arse you are sadly mistaken.

I remember when I cared what coaches said in press conferences. I actually believed them sometimes!

I think I was 12 or 13

The coaches aren’t satisfied. Some things he won’t say just for the benefit of the press or message boards.

Well this is a better scenerio IMO as the players are the ones out there and if they are the ones upset and holding eachother accountable there is a better chance of improvement IMO.

No need to address it to the media. Better left for behind closed doors

I think it would be smart to try to see and understand why it happened, which is far beyond the capacity of this board.

Maybe O knows not to throw your players/coaches under the bus. That only creates animosity. Now what will "Tell the truth Monday" sound like behind closed doors???? What do you think?

Airing dirty laundry is never a good idea and he is smart enough to know that.

Sorta strange that the players are upset and the coaches are satisfied. Normally its the other way around.

Maybe because because publicly blasting and humiliating your coaching staff is a bad management move?

I'm sure they watched film today and it will be addressed Monday. Same thing happened after Vandy. I believe O came out and talked about what he saw and needed cleaned up on Monday.

I challenge you to point to a single statement from a coach where they said they were "satisfied." Winning is all that matters and the coaches and team are happy with that, but they are obviously not satisfied. Criticism is best done in private with the offending parties.
