In the era of spread offenses, I like the idea of having a secondary coach as DC

The whole game now is about matchups and stopping teams in space as they use the whole field. Who better to think in that kind of expanded way than a secondary coach who is looking at everything the offense is doing all the time?

I'm just saying that conceptually, this could be the way to go in the same way that you often see QB coaches and Passing Game Coordinators move into the OC role (Joe Brady). Perhaps finding innovative, sound DB coaches to coach the whole defense is the best way to stop modern college offenses?

That's why teams still have a power run game and rpo's it keeps the d honest.
