He mentions that he hired Canada because he was the hot, trendy name at the time even though he “really wanted Ensminger.” He then talks about it being an awkward, strained relationship and the meeting where Alleva basically told Ed that he needs to leave Canada alone and let him handle the offense. It was pretty cringe worthy stuff.

I can’t help but think that THIS is the real Ed Orgeron and this season is a simple mean reversion back to where his program was always going to be.

I don’t follow this logic at all.

Difficult to disagree with this.

Is it not clear that Ensminger is the better OC at this point?

I agree. Seems Ed truly wants his friends or people around him he's comfortable with thst won't buck what he wants done.

He didn't like Canada because he didn't like the eye candy bs. And for whatever reason he didn't like Aranda. Now he has E and Pelini. People he is comfortable with. The problem is they aren't good coaches anymore.

It's actually not.

Exactly. No Canada isn't a OC anymore but E wouldn't be either if not for Ed.

No other school wants E either.

Also I remember all the moaning and groaning about Canada's "eye candy" and motion.

Well I've heard quite a bit about eye candy the last few weeks during the games, it seems LSUs defense has an issue with that eye candy

I think there is truth here. It's his BBQ buddies that he hires which is OK IF they can coach. They cannot.

Too bad for Canada that he didn't match wits with Bo.

Because it’s not the mentality becoming of an elite-level head football coach. Who hires someone because they are the “hot name” and not because they think they are the best person to help win game?

What elite head coach out there has their AD telling them to “stay out of the offense“ because apparently they are too stupid to offer anything of value?

That’s embarrassing stuff for a place like LSU.

So he should've went with his gut . So what does that mean the first gut reaction was with the DC hire?

Fact is that no other P5 schools wanted either E or Pellini as coordinators. Coach O's promise to get the "best coordinators" has not been fulfilled.

Yep. Lucked out with Brady. Canada, Linehan and Pelini have all been disasters.

the Canada hire made him realize how important it was to hire coaches that will fit the culture, that is why Ed is more likely to hire coaches he knows or is very familiar with.

You can throw in the hires of Bill Johnson, Jerry Sullivan & Pete Jenkins over Orgeron's tenure to that list. Sullivan & Jenkins are no longer around but Bill Johnson is still adding his stench to the defensive line.

It probably was gas. What followed next was a turd of an hire in Pelini.

You think Scott Linehan and Bo Pelini were hot names?

The ones with Joe Alleva as their boss.

I understand your upset about the loss but this is a major reach at best

how is it a reach when O himself said in his book that he hired the hot name and not the guy he wanted?
