It's hard to have good punt coverage when you have such crappy punters. The Australian requirement needs to be dropped NOW. Grimes is in charge of recruiting (which he alledgely was good at) and coaching up the OL. Both pieces of this are crap. Send him packing. Hard to pass judgment on Canada at this point. Hard to run or pass when half the D is in the backfield on every play.

As for the defense, Aranda didn't go from genius to idiot overnight. We have minimal talent and zero depth on the DL and a bunch of youngsters behind them. I have a lot of faith that they can get better if some of our DL return. (Wtf is going on with Herron?). What I miss the most is our swagger on D. Looking back at having players like Glen Dorsey, Chad Lavalais, Chad Jones, PP, HB, Jamal Adams, we don't have inspiring badass player(s) that the other team fears. Devin White shows that potential, but a lot of teams used to be intimidated facing LSU, they certainly aren't now.

I agree with most things you said. As far as Aranda, the defense is depleted. We are very young and we have injuries on the line and Frank Herron still out. The depth is not where it needs to be there. We have young db’s playing who will make mistakes. Ed Paris was out last game. Battle went out with an injury. Donnie Alexander was out until the second half along with a lineman. Ed Alexander was out with injury. Lawrence was playing injured. Key is out if shape. No one is a miracle worker. To assume that this all of a sudden makes Aranda bad at what he is doing is a bit of a stretch. At the end of the day players have to be disciplined and be in the right position to make plays. The players blamed themselves in the MSU game and said they did not stay disciplined.

Every thing you stated could also apply to Grimes. Aranda gets a pass though.

much like assistants, these S&C coordinators for football are tied to a HC

if they can land a gig that gives them the ability to plant roots, they jump on it

he has a great gig and with the instability that is LSU head coaching, would be a terrible career move to leave bama

cochran is celebrity in alabama and saban will match whatever we offer. there would be zero reason for him to give up that job.

I just can't understand why LSU refuses to run their offense. Find what you are good at and run the offense. Bama lines up and runs their offense, makes you stop it. Every other team runs an offense. LSU came out and started the game with about 4 FB and TE. can we get a coach that will run an offense.

Having a separate coach responsible for each unit seems unmanageable to me because it's the same players. But I may be thinking about this wrong.

Yeah, I don't know either. Personally I'll take the current system over a single coach doing everything. I don't think there's that much overlap between the units. But special teams has been poor for a few years now, so this isn't new to the current coaching situation.

Anyway, I don't even think this is worth arguing about, since the NCAA approved the 10th coach (which Orgeron has said would be a dedicated special teams coach) and this will go into effect in December. Orgeron was hoping the 10th coach would be approved for use this year, but the NCAA delayed that.

And hope he brings with him whatever he gives them to be stronger and faster than anyone in the country.
