I'm not buying that Brady only calls 10% of the plays

Is anybody buying this 90% Ensminger play-calling? I'm assuming O was misquoted, and E and Brady's names got reversed.

Oregon was asked about the play-calling breakdown. "Steve calls probably 90 percent of them."

bullshite. You can tell when Brady took the reins in the 2nd quarter.

Stop it. Brady only calls 10 percent of the plays. He tells ensminger the other 90 percent to call.

I don't give a shite who's calling what percentage of plays, as long as they're working together and scoring points.

The quote:
Brady still passes the plays to Ensminger. Ensminger then relays the play on the headset or (rarely) changes the play call before relaying it over the headset. Sometimes he just lets Brady make the call on the headset.
This does not contradict anything Orgeron has said over the last 2 weeks.
quote:
"They're both on the headsets. Steve makes the final call, but sometimes Joe makes the call. It's all up to Steve. Steve makes about 90% of the calls."

All I know is this is the Maleveto experiment gone right.

It was pretty clear that Brady took over play calling towards the middle of the 2nd quarter. We looked sluggish and play calls kept coming in slow, then a switch flipped and we were spreading the field, moving fast, and using a multitude of formations and personnel packages. THAT was NOT Steve Ensminger.

Steve is definitely making most of the calls.
Brady's main value was to help in installing the offense, and he obviously did an awesome job with that, but there is no reason to think that he is actually some amazing situational play caller...there are a relatively limited number of plays, and Steve is obviously aware of all of the plays that LSU has run in practice...he isn't going to accidentally yell "Potato" instead of a passing play when Burrow is waiting for a play to get called.
Ensminger took over play-calling duties mid-season the year Miles and Cameron got fired and did a better job with Cam Cameron's offense than Cam was doing. It's not like being the main architect of an offense is a pre-requisite to being able to call plays utilizing it.

Who freaking cares who is calling them. Just win baby!!

Who cares
Steve didn’t want the job anyways but he gets OC money to let his eventual successor make the calls? Solid deal for him

I knew statements like these were coming and they aren’t going to stop. From this point on if a play works Brady called it and if a play doesn’t Ensminger called it.
The truth is they are working together to make this offense great. Instead of putting one versus the other we should be celebrating both for putting ego aside for what is best for LSU.

I don't care who calls the plays.

Honestly, I see this as a positive going forward. It sure looked like an offense that E would call in the first quarter and then something totally different after that. To me it shows that they're working together just as you say. IMO it answers the question that many fans had about what would be run in a tight situation. I think we got our answer and it was glorious.
Eta: And E deserves a ton of credit for recognizing that as the OC and making the adjustment. In the end it's his decision what to call.

He's the one who implemented the spread system we use. So it wouldn't make sense that SE is calling plays in Brady's system.
Regardless, this could be and probably is coach speak. SE is still technically the OC, so you dont want all of this back in forth with speculating who does what in the media and with the fans. I think O realized this when he said Brady is calling the plays and how that was not such a smart thing to let slip. It looks like we just have a guy in there chewing gum and getting hundreds of thousands of dollars And I don't think that's true either. I think SE is contributing, but lets be real. This is Brady's offense and Burrow is executing it to perfection.

They can say whatever they want but it's clear Brady is behind this offensive turnaround.

We ran a lot of spread formations last year
I think the main difference you're seeing is in how we manage protection and get the ball out of Burrow's hands in a hurry
