I’m curious about the new helmet padding that they’re wearing this year

Example at 10:18

I’m guessing it’s for shock absorption and tracking?

Those have been around for quite some time now. It’s just to try and reduce head injuries.

They’re supposed to reduce concussions but studies have shown that they don’t work. Says a lot about the FSU program

Not much you can do for “brain slosh” unless you can figure out how to defeat Newton’s first and second laws.

The NFL is actually requiring that all players use these for the first part of training camp.

They’re like Covid masks. They are for the appearance of safety. If they worked, why not wear them all the time or incorporate them into the helmets.

Remove the helmets like rugby. Players will naturally protect the skull when there is no padding.

Guardian caps- the thinking of helmets contacting on every rep or most reps cause damage even though not big hits

FSU has had the padded helmets at practice since the middle of Jimbo Fisher's tenure. This is not new. We have also had Heartrate/speed tracking for 10 years as well. He uses both at TA&M as well.

Oh, sure, because big men moving real quickly won't accidentally bang their heads into each other.

I think the main thing is that the technology records real time data that I'm sure Marucci and team medical personnel use to collect data from practices
