No, but the average OT'er does. Have to start the GoFund Me over there.

Going from 11th pick to 9th pick would net him 1.5 mil in signing bonus. Just 2 picks.

He's losing a year of earning potential by coming back. Football is a career with a finite timeline. You need to make all the money you can while playing because you'll be retiring from that career before you are even 40 years old.

NFL guys are constantly talking about getting to that second contract and getting the big pay day. The sooner a player can get to that, the more career earning potential they have.

If he gets drafted in the 2nd instead of high first he would have lost a ton of money. You are simply wrong.

White comes back if things besides money ar his priority. It’s that simple. He’d have to be a 1 in 100 type of dude.

And it's not they're. that's a contraction standing for they are... which is not grammatically correct.

exactly.

My question to all these people wanting White to stay is:

If Devin White was your son, what advice would you give him? And don't answer "do what he wants." It's a go or stay answer.

Which one is it?

I don't know if I've said what he should do. I and others have simply underscored the risks involved with staying in college for another year vs heading to the NFL. Nothing unreasonable about that.

He should do whatever he wants.

I agree with all the rational people telling him to go. But I’m also pissy about Greedy bailing. I just can’t let it go. You were my boy, Blue!

To some people money isn't everything.

true, but that doesn't mean it's not a reality of life that must be taken into consideration.

If money's isn't everything, why are we all working 40+ hours a week for 40+ years? Why don't we say that we value our family and hobbies more than money, so don't work much. Because that's not reality.

The amount of money you make is a reality of life and determines the lifestyle and security for your family. You can still be of the view that money isn't everything, yet still see the realities of life and make rational and wise decisions.

How does posting on the Rant equate to someone’s wealth?

And of course my single donation wouldn’t make a big difference but several hundred thousand LSU fans donations would.
Devin White would be a bigger hero here than he already is if he stayed and played his senior season. Just my opinion.

This exact same risk is taken on in every single game by every single player on the team. If avoiding this risk is so important, why are any of our draft prospects playing at all, regardless of their year in school, after we lose our second game each year?

All that said, White would be a complete idiot not to take the money, but that would go for anyone in any profession who receives a large guaranteed contract offer like that.

The “risk” of staying another year, or playing in bowl games is incredibly overstated. It’s no higher than the risk of having a career ending injury this past season. Such injuries happen very very rarely, and are part and parcel of the sport these guys choose to play.

Riding horses and 4 wheelers are risks. Perhaps he should stop doing those things too.

I do think it's a small risk, but it's a real risk nonetheless.

And I haven't done the research, but I'm sure I could find several players every year whose draft stock lowered because they came back and either played poorly or got injured.

So although the risk for a single player is probably low, the risk is there and that needs to be factored into a player's decision.

And when a player is staring at a $10 million+ contract, virtually any risk is too much.
