re: If the decision was for you and your family to make, would you play?
Honestly depends on me and my families situation. If I’m a CB, and I just watched Fulton go down, I likely do not play

Pay the players? When you add it up, they are getting roughly $40-50k per year in benefits. $120-150k for a 3 year stay.

Pretty good for an 18-20 year old.

Most of would do questionable if not illegal things for 20 million. If you say you wouldn’t then you are lying to us and yourself.

So, yes, I would sit. It’s just not that big of a deal.

NFL owners could fix this really quick.

Why should they even care? Not playing in a bowl game does not equate to skipping nfl games.

I would be as selfish as Greedy if I was upset he quit on the team.
I only want him to play to give LSU a better chance at winning so I can be happy.
He wants to quit so he can stay healthy and make more money.
It’s a scratch. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the way things work.
It was a pleasure watching him play. Good luck to him.

All players should get paid doing the season don’t give me that free scholarship crap

So a free education isn’t worth anything?

Free roof over their head

Free clothes

Free food

Free gym membership

Free tutors

Free coaching

And a monthly allowance. Along with loaded handshakes if you’re good.

Tell that to a parent with kids in college, working two jobs and scrapping by so their kids can have a future.
Paying tuition so those players can get all that free stuff

If the players want more money and stuff they can get jobs like other college students.

Don’t like it, don’t play. Pay your way to a career like the rest of the world.

Also, you are a fricking moron.

true, but this is a bit different because each player is part of a larger team, and they're adversely affecting the rest of the team by sitting out.

I might skip my senior season, but I would play in the bowl game. Besides, NFL scouts do notice that. It could have an impact on how they perceive you, espesially if you didn’t have any injury that could have worsened in playing the game.

I agree but wouldn’t you say that he has a much larger and important obligation to provide for his daughter?

I feel like kids only started making decisions like this only recently. Back in the day you played every game unless you were either hurt, suspended, or not on the team. If you are worried about getting injured then maybe football isn't the sport for you. Never bail on your team for your own selfish reasons.

I would play, but I can understand someone wanting to sit the bowl out. I would hold no ill will and I can just about guarantee that Greedys teammates understand and support him. Next man up.

If LSU can’t beat UCF then it’s a far deeper problem then Greedy not playing.

We are down both starting cbs, both nose tackles, a linebacker, and our pass rusher. I may be missing more but every bowl game is important for momentum going into next season and for recruiting. It hurts the whole program that helped give you that opportunity to be a high draft pick. Everyone works their arse off for you and each other as a team and you can't give them one more game? To me that's selfish and the lack of depth puts others at risk for injury so you can go make your money.

Let's see.

I'm a first round pick and will be an instant millionaire if I make it to draft day unscathed.

If I play and I'm injured, I could lose all of that.

If I lose all of that, my team and particularly the fans, will drop me like one of my kid's shitty diapers.

If I play, and we win or lose it gains me nothing but the temporary admiration of these same fans that would drop me like a shitty diaper.

If I don't play, and we win or lose, I get drafted in the first round, I become a millionaire, and the team benefits from being being known as NFL DBU when recruiting future DBs.

Yeah, I'm out.

Well shite let's just completely do away with college football then. Either that or once the Mel Kipers of the world give them a high draft grade, then they should just mail it in and wait for the NFL. Character and intangibles go into a player's analysis before a franchise makes a decision. I guarantee you they will look at this. It may or may not affect Greedy, but I would rather have a guy like Devin White in my locker room than an immature guy only thinking about himself and the money.
