Sometimes it comes down to whether or not you love to play the game vs. it all being about money.
DWhite embodies the former and more players should follow his lead.
Yes, but I’m still downvoting because methinks you’re using this to get upvotes.

It’s a free country. You should be able to do what you feel is best for you and your family. The entire point of college is to prepar you for a career.

True, and I’m not one to blame a kid for sitting out to protect themselves. There’s certainly a case for it. I guess I’m old school—to borrow a quote from O.

Dude had everything provided for him free of charge.... meals, place to stay, girls, education.... all for 1 reason: he could play football.
He’s fricking over the people who provided that and got him to his million dollar career.

The football season is made up of REGULAR season and POST season. It is not over.
Don't think so? watch the rankings change after bowl games.
There is insurance that someone at his level could get to mitigate the security factor. He is also not in a high risk position as a RB might be.
He did not get there alone, he plays in a TEAM.

That would most likely depend on my medical history. I couldn't fault LF7 for sitting out with that nagging ankle injury on top of the fact that RBs take a beating every single game.
CB, however, is usually different. Unless Greedy has an injury that I don't know about, I just can't grasp how a kid can play with a team for so long and sit out his last bowl game like that.
On top of that, he is leaving us with a huge drop in CB level of play against a very pass happy team with talented recs.

Let’s not act like having a top 5-10 player on its roster didn’t benefit LSU a bit as well there chief. The exposure from his draft position is worth the meals/dorm/meaningless classes cost multiple times over.
I could see the outrage over this if the NFL actually had a viable minor league alternative or if players could enter from high school. Then Greedy would’ve chosen specifically to take the college route. They don’t. So guys majoring in pre nfl will continue to go through the farcical system as “student athletes.” They will play until maximum exposure/benefit has been reached and sit when they deem the risk to their future earnings has surpassed the reward for playing.

All players should get paid doing the season don’t give me that free scholarship crap. Head Coaches making millions, schools making millions players making jack sheeet . Everyone has their own opinion it’s a free country. Go Greedy.

I would play. To me the greatest indicator of great success at the next level of any profession is whether you love it. Whether you would rather do that thing than anything else.
So, if I was given the opportunity to do that thing, whatever it is, I would jump on it. It’s SHOULD beat the hell out of sitting on the couch. If it isn’t, then it’s just a job... and I will perform as though it’s just a job, whether is a “big” job or a little job.
I might be crazy, but I don’t think there are too many NFL hall of famers who were ambivalent about football.

It’s a business decision. A simple one at that. Some of you forget how much of a difference the NFL could make to his entire family tree. It’s not just about honor. The kid has an opportunity to provide an unimaginable life for his family and you all want him to risk that so we can be better entertained for 3 hours.

I would play but they need to ban bowl games outside of playoffs they really are pointless and why risk getting key returning players hurt for the next season
