If Saban hadn’t left, would F King and Alleva run him off anyway?

I say no way they would allow a football coach to make $10m a year. Saban would have left for somewhere willing to pay the freight.

Neither of them would be here if Saban had never left. Saban would be the damn President, AD, and head coach. The dictatorship we would all welcome.

Y'all don't remember him looking around every year? He wasn't staying. Grass Always Greener somewheres else

I agree with those who say that Saban was run off from LSU by the people running the program at the time he left.

They’d be too busy counting all the revenue coming in to LSU to worry about his salary

He wasn't looking anywhere. Jimmy Sexton is the one doing that shite for leverage. Saban nor his wife wanted to leave Baton Rouge.
That was a Skip ego stare down with Saban. Saban would have passed Skip as the greatest coach ever at LSU. Then when Saban wanted back at the beginning of Les' 2nd season, Miles ran the table after 2 losses and Skip had his man long term.
Well - got to see 2 National Championships which is more than I ever imagined. Those days are long gone.
Alleva had stated the goal is to be "competitive" not to win championships.
So 6-6 or 7-5 could be job stability for Orgeron.

I can see Coach O settling in as LSU HC with a 3-loss cap for long term stability -- at least for five years, at which time Aranda would be promoted to HC.
IMHO, that's what the LSU football powers that be are looking for from O's tenure. Anything more than 3 losses per season as a habit would cause them to Oust O and promote Aranda sooner.
The plan is to ride O's tenure as long as possible then promote Aranda. If O starts losing and the money-flow from the fans is threatened, Aranda will be promoted to HC sooner rather than later.
It's all about the dollars, just like Joe Pesci's character said in the film "Casino."
The plan maybe USED TO BE to just ride out Saban's time at Bama until he retires, but, they must realize now that this is not feasible because Bama can surely convince either Dabo or Kirby Smart to "come home to Mama" just like Bear did when he left Kentucky for Bama way back when.
I really would advise all LSU football fanatics to tone down the expectations just a bit because if you don't you are simply setting yourself up for some serious heartburn and frustration.
