If LSU wins the NC, could it be the greatest season ever?

Not the best team ever, just the greatest individual season for what they would have accomplished.

Depending on how the top SEC teams do in their bowl games, LSU could finish with 6 wins over teams that FINISH THE SEASON IN THE TOP 10 if they do in fact win it all. I can't imagine anything more impressive than that ever happening in one single season. And all with what looks like is going to be the Heisman winner.

Im not sure it would even be a conversation.

Playoff Committee will still probably rank us behind OSU though.

If LSU wins they will be the only SEC team, and only the 2nd team in CFB history, to go 15-0.

Beat Clemson and OSU plus all the other we beat by then. That would be a heck of a season. Many of the big time programs would be left in our wake this season. That’s one for the ages.

Well Clemson last year is the only team in college football history to go 15-0 and if we go 15-0 this year with the schedule we played this year vs. the schedule clemson played last year, i think it'd be pretty easy to say that this team had the greatest season in college football history.

For reference, before the playoffs last year, the only 2 ranked teams Clemson played were #16 NC State and #17 Boston College.

Just wondering about all the underclassmen who opted out and are now on an NFL practice team. Some of them on no practice team. Staying one more year could have been a special season to remember.

Well Dabo claimed Clemson was the greatest team ever last year for going 15-0.

It would be funny if LSU beat Ohio State in the NC in a close game or a fluky play and the committee still ranked Ohio State first based on the eye test and them being a more complete team.

If they win it all it would mean they beat the #4 team, #3 team, and #1 team in three consecutive games. Not to mention the various top 25 teams they beat during the regular season. It would be the most well earned NC of all time and I don't think it would be close.

Had we not been screwed into playing an SECW opponent that we already beat for the 2011 BCS Championship, we would have beaten 9 teams ranked in the top 25. 4 of the 9 would have been top 5.

greatest season ever

Certainly the greatest season ever for LSU, but not the greatest season ever for a college football team as there have been several close calls (one surprisingly to a subpar "Ole Piss" team).

2001 Miami was the most dominant team ever, in modern times.

if we beat Georgia, Clemson then Ohio State that would be the greatest season of all time...

7 wins over top 10 teams i dont think has ever been done before... its damn near impossible without a playoff...

Texas
Florida
Auburn
Bama
Georgia
Clemson
Ohio State

Jesus... the 2019 LSU team would be legendary...

was talking to many people at our facility about this last night too... no one could think of a better season from anyone...

and the few ohip state fans that were there wanted no part of Clemson...

i said bring them on...

Let’s win it first before we start the proverbial “best ever” LSU convo that happens every single season about every single team, position group and player who ever puts on the Purple and Gold. If we’d finish 15-0, like every other unbeaten you can make any hypothetical argument you’d like. But first things first and let’s worry about Saturday. You guys did this and still do it with 2011 who isn’t even the current “best ever” at LSU. Yal made up this silly “toughest schedule of alltime” argument that other fans laugh at bevause it was the 8th ranked schedule of 2011. It wasn’t even the toughest schedule of that season or the toughest of the decade for LSU and out ignorant fans talk about it like we played in the NFL. Sorry for rambling and ranting, just saying don’t count your chickens and make sure your barrels are loaded when you bring that argument.
