If LSU makes it to the SECT Final, I'll be happy

The SEC Tournament means a lot to me as an LSU fan. It's the first memory I have of sports in general. I remember my Dad pulling me out of class when I was in Kindergarten to watch the first game of the 1987 SEC Tournament.
LSU has not had a very good history in the tournament, at least since I've been watching. A 1987 Championship appearance against Alabama, a 1993 Championship appearance against Kentucky, semifinal appearances in 1992, 2000, 2002, 2006 and 2009. There haven't been any championships in my lifetime, and I would love to see one. It would mean more to me than, say, a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAAT.
This year, however, I would accept just a championship appearance and be happy. Wins over Vandy (in Nashville) and A&M (reg season champ) would look great on the resume and would be exciting to experience as a fan.

The resume for what?
Lockup our NIT bid. Maybe move up to a 5th seed.
If we get to Sunday and then lose it'll just be that much more painful.

They won't. They will likely be one and done in both the SECT and NIT.

What's funny is we've beaten every team that finished in the SEC top 5 except South Carolina, which was a close loss on the road. We are probably the only team to have played all four of the other teams in the top 5 on the road, and finished with a record of 3-3 against those teams (with all 3 losses coming on the road; 1-3 on the road, 2-0 at home). Yet, somehow, this week we have no shot at beating any of those teams on a neutral floor.
I'm not sure what drives the negativity of Tiger fans (at least on tRant). Is it just that you don't want to be disappointed so if you keep telling yourself we'll lose the first game, and we win, then you'll be pleasantly surprised? Is it that you literally can't take the disappointment? Why ever watch any LSU sports ever? Because, I hate to tell you, almost every year in every sport, we will NOT win a national championship. That's pretty much how life works when you have 120+ football teams, 300+ basketball and baseball teams, etc. all vying for a title.
Man, y'all must be some pretty miserable people to be around. Is your own self-esteem tied to whether an LSU sports team wins a national championship?

Does anyone know Keith's status for the SECT?

Certainly LSU has a chance. They're capable of, and in fact have, beaten every opponent except UT whom they might face on their way to a championship. Nonetheless, to opine that LSU has no realistic shot based upon they way that have been playing is not unrealistic or "negative"
3 weeks ago LSU was in 1st place with a legitimate shot of winning the SEC. Since that time, they lost to Bama at home. Though that wasn't a killer loss. They then followed that up by essentially quitting and getting blown out by UT and Ark when they still had so much to play for. Their last 3 games were two wins where they played well for a while then almost choked away big leads, and a complete arse-kicking at UK. You could argue that LSU is playing its worst basketball in 2 months going into this tournament
There is a difference between negativity, reality, and blind optimism. Some can't figure that out.

I hate all you spineless, pussy having mofos. If you want to bitch and moan and say we will be one and done, how about look foward to baseball, football, and softball. Hell even keep up with Gym and Rugby. Don't watch the tourney or the NIT.
Being an LSU faithful we should always be blind optimist .

This season needs to be over. All the Ben Simmons hype needs to go away and we need to move on.

Only way this team can redeem themselves is to win the tournament.

Underachieving is what causes my negativity. If we were playing to our max potential and still lose, I'm fine with that.
But I'm not fine with underachieving, either from the players or the coaching perspective.

LSU has the talent to win the SECT. Therefore, if and when they lose and let us down once again, whether it be Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, I will not be happy. You should never accept or be happy with losing when you had the expectations that Ben Simmons and this LSU team had coming into this season.
