If good pitching defeats good hitting…..

do the Aggies with the tournament today? And does that mean LSU has to focus on pitching moving forward?

Doesn’t really matter if A&M wins or not, LSU has to focus at getting more consistent starting pitching and way better in the bull pen

Our pitching staff was pretty badass…then we lost several sub 2 ERA guys to injuries…

What kind of correlation is this?— if aggies win, does Lsu focus on pitching going forward? We don’t play them & unlikely to play again this season. So what happens to them is irrelevant to LSU. Of course we need to focus on pitching, but damn sure hitting as well. Luckily, none of our pitchers have to work on hitting or hitters on pitching. IMO, pitching was fine for the most part throughout tournament minus the few bullpen screwups. Hitting was a major problem, but mainly just not making timely hits. We shite the bed on hits w/RISP.

The aggies have been playing for their post-season lives. They had way more incentive to win games. That said, I think they won their way in after their first game.
Forr us, the answer is that 1) we need to get some guys healthy AND add more quality depth.

What do they have left? They had to come out of the losers bracket.
Here’s the deal, the COACH also is pretty damn important. Look at the run last year with less talent and a team that made a ton of errors.

LSU is probably going to have to redo the entire bullpen. Might not have a single starter next year from this year.
Shores, Edwards, Taylor very likely not pitching next year. Huge blows here. Needs tons more development from guys like Herring. Guidry is probably not staying on the mound. Floyd will probably be drafted. Skenes gone.
The only realistic possibility here is Hurd emerges as a high end starter as he was thought to be. Little probably gone. No idea on Noot's recovery. Going to have to hit the portal super hard for pitching.

I’ll take the coach that had us a national seed prior to the conference tournament over the one who had to win just to get into the field but I know you love you some Schlossnagle

I mean LSU has the best pitcher in college baseball and a really good number two guy. If Ack, Cooper, and Hurd can do what they did in the SEC tournament you can make a run with 5 good arms.

I think both are good coaches. I just prefer coaches who focus on grinding out hits and pitching over playing for the long ball with every AB. Even Skip didn’t do that. His hitters like Furniss was a high average hitter. What I’m not inferring is he would bunt a Furniss nor should Johnson EVER consider bunting White.
Skip was a GREAT coach when it came to pitching. His choices and feels for pitchers like Ojea, Greene, Sirotka, Layton, etc.

How about Skips 1989 team with 6 guys who pitched in the major league? How about Skip the pitching coach for Miami when they won it all?

So LSU can’t beat good lefties.
Yeah that’ll work against teams with decent lefties in one game take all situations.
Tommy White, while the nation's RBI leader, is batting .250 against left-handers in 72 at-bats this year. Against Arkansas, White struck out to end the third and fifth innings and then grounded out to end the seventh and ninth innings. He was given the day off against Texas A&M. Left-handed hitter Brayden Jobert has the next-lowest batting average against lefties this season (.254 through 59 at-bats), but was 2 for 5 against the Aggies. Both Paxton Kling and Josh Pearson have low batting averages against lefties, but fewer at-bats than White or Jobert. Kling (.189 in 37 at-bats) stared against Texas A&M while Pearson (.259 in 27 at-bats) started against Arkansas. Of the left-handed hitters on the team, Cade Beloso and Tre’ Morgan are the best against southpaws. Beloso wasn't in the lineup against Arkansas, but batted cleanup against the Aggies. Beloso is batting .400 in 35 at-bats against lefties, while Morgan is at .350 in 80 at-bats. Morgan batted fifth against Arkansas and second against Texas A&M. Timely hitting has a lot to do with what hitter comes up at the right time. No matter which way LSU drew up its lineup in the SEC tournament, the Tigers couldn't find a way to get needed hits against lefties.

Taylor most definitely will be ready by next year considering he had the surgery before this season ever started. Now Shores and Edwards are big question marks.

And you’re leaving out Coleman. They stretched him before the SEC Tournament. He could be a guy who gives us up to five innings of long relief each week.
