Yeah. LSU is the type of program where you learn on the job.... he better learn how to win an SEC title in 3 years

Good post lsutiger2.
You should be excited about next year, or any year, for that matter. You a Tiger fan.

Most of these Baws on TD are good at crying any time LSU loses ANY game. Got to ignore some of these entitled, delusional Mama's Baws.

would be 3 out of 5 have NC.....

Saban and Jimbo have natty's. But Richt, Gus, and Kirby haven't. I think 2 of 5 is correct.

2019 looks to be our year, as long as Orgeron continues to fill the needs of this team left empty by Miles.

sigh....

miles left 52 4 and 5 star players.
when he was fired we had 3 all sec olinemen and a rimington award finalist.
when miles was fired he left a dline littered with 4star players

its amazing how fast lsu went from "Having just as much talent as Bama" to
"miles left the program so bare, we dont have the talent to beat troy"(hasnt had a single recruiting class in the top 95
since 2012.

247 power rankings had lsu has the 6th most talented roster in cfb.

I love the “always be happy because we are blessed to watch this team” approach

It’s great for your kids little league, but wouldn’t it be a lot more fun to watch a really good team every game? Instead of praying we turn it around?

If Canada leaves for a substandard HC gig I will have little faith in coach O’s “growth”. If he pulls another top flight OC then I will have hope that perhaps he has learned but the relationship with Canada was just too strained... but it will be wait and see hope, not faith.

Next season is rough on paper, and we will be replacing a lot of key pieces. Unfortunately next year is critical, not because we should be judging a head coach’s reforming of the program on two seasons, but because recruits very well may and two Or three recruiting classes that are less than loaded is enough to sink a program in the SEC.

We lost most of those guys you’re talking about. In between 65 and 70% of the 4/5 star kids Miles had in 2016 are gone.

Correction those percentages apply to Jrs. and Srs. for this years roster but i do agree he doesn’t get another year of honeymooning. Next year we must compete on a major level.

Could have offered Lincoln Riley a bunch of money before stoops stepped down

Probably would have guaged Mike Leach’s interest.

Maybe at least talked to Patterson.

Hung out a month for Chip Kelly to get fired.

Miles went after 4 and 5 star kids at the skilled positions. He recruited QB's that did not fit a pro style offense.

For whatever reason (recruiting, transfers, leaving early, etc...), Orgeron was left thin on linemen on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

At the end of Miles tennure, good QB's weren't signing with Miles, except maybe Brennan (jury still out on that).

I'm looking for improvement in 2018, and realistically, 2019 Orgeron will have had enough time to seriously contend for the SEC West.

4 games in 2016, and one full season in 2017 is not enough time to get where we all want to be.

That's not the right question. The right question is, on a wish list board being prepared nearly all of 2016, how far down would you personally have had to go before you'd have considered tapping Ed Orgeron as the head coach of our Top 10 program? Of all the potential head coaches in both college and the NFL, where do you think Orgeron's name would have been listed on that white board?

All this stuff about "If not Orgeron, then who" stuff drives me crazy. We're a Top 10 program with elite talent at our doorstep, tons of history, lots of recent success, name recognition, will obviously pay top dollar, etc. You start at the top of your wish list and start scratching off names which will never happen (Bellichick, Saban, Meyer, etc) until you get to possibles (Jimbo, Herman, Chip Kelly, Fleck, etc) and start making plays. You keep going down that list until you get the best guy available. Sooner rather than later you'll hit a successful coach who's willing to either move sideways or upgrade and take your money and the prestige that comes with coaching a program of this magnitude.

And...if the nearly unthinkable happens and you somehow manage to get so far down the list that you start getting to the names of current positions coaches that have ALSO tanked other SEC programs when they had their chance to be the head coach there and only they will accept your offer, then you go with them out of sheer necessity. But I'm comfortable thinking it would have never gotten that far...

Sure, he learned from this season, but I mean look at the great talent that LSU always has did for him in his first season there, that talent won him 9 games, and this season started of rocky for him because it was a young inexperienced team with some vets sprinkled throughout on both sides of the ball. It took a ex LSU vet like Duke Riley to turn them around with the pep talk he gave them because coach O had really lost his team at that stage imo and he really didn't know what to do to snap them out of it, but they turned it around and salvaged the season which was a really good thing for him. But I mean every season LSU has the chance to go unbeaten or lose 1 game at most because of their great talent, this season they got unexpectedly blown out by State a team they usually dominate, then the really unexpected happened in the upset by Troy, and of course the customary loss to Bama that's becoming an irritant. Next season will be even harder with a harder schedule, but once again they have the talent to lose 1 game at the most with that game being Auburn imo. But they need to break this Bama jinx starting in DV next season.

I hope he doesn't because they really will be praising Saban then.

Unfortunately we are going to step back. Thin on the OL. No standout RB. Overall decline at WR (although we do have Giles). First-year starter & underclassman at QB. Long story short, the offense will probably struggle, especially early on versus Miami and Auburn.

Sure am glad Da Coach O has been able to use his HC position as a learning experience. Seems he had a lot to learn.
