I agree with both of these. The problem is we had talent on defense and offense last year and we lost 4 games against one of the weakest schedules we've played over the last 10 years. I don't think its unreasonable that people look at next year's schedule and think that 7-5 or 6-6 is possible.

Also 99% of “O supporters” don’t even like O. They are labeled as such because they refuse to jump on board with the doomsday narrative that the haters demand be taken as fact.

The haters act as if 6-6 is the ceiling for this team and that it’s blasphemy to think that we can be competitive.

Could the bottom fall out? Sure anything could happen but y’all act as if their is no possible scenario where it doesn’t.

Here are some facts:

While I agree that O is a clusterfrick, I refuse to believe that their isn’t enough talent on this team to be competitive next year. I refuse to to just throw in the towel.

Honestly I think the haters are more afraid of O winning 8 or 9 games again than y’all are of the bottom falling out. Which is sad cuz 8-9 wins a year won’t keep O employed for long. It got his predecessor fired and that guy won a NC and played for another.

7-5 or 6-6 is always possible. But, what our fans are doing is taking every toss up game we have and assuming a loss to further the narrative that we suck. People posted the same nonsense after we lost to Troy and said it was totally possible for us to finish with 4 or 5 wins. Being possible and probable are two different things. It is not probable that we go 6-6 next year. We are not likely to lose every toss up game we play. I don't care who the HC coach is. Our defense alone will prevent us from totally sucking. I expect that to remain elite. It's really hard to be that bad with an elite defense. Our offense was absolutely dreadful in 2010, yet we still managed an 11 win season. not saying we will have an 11 win season this year, but having a bad offense doesn't prevent you from winning football games if you have a great defense.

Just because you don't have faith in a coach doesn't mean you don't root for him or the team to win. Why doesn't the O cult understand this?

Can you name 5 important/meaningful things Ed Orgeron has done since the loss to ND in the bowl game that should have the fans feeling excited, positive or hopeful for next season

1) Hired an OL coach from the pros to help with pass blocking
Hired a WR coach to help our struggling WR corp
3) Signed the JC OT
4) Signed two stud WRs
5) Hired a good safeties coach, Strength coach and Nussmeir to help coach QBs

That's five, but unfortunately it wasn't easy.

And back then, people didn't try and belittle those that did.

Some of you guys need to get a life.

It’s not unreasonable to think that 6-6 is possible but it is unreasonable to think that 6-6 is a foregone conclusion.

That’s what the people on this board are spewing.

Fair enough. To be clear, which games do you consider to be "toss up" games? I see three games where we will be a heavy underdog, 4 games what I guess would be considered "toss up" games, and the remaining games that we should win. So, 7-5 would mean we lose the 3 we are underdogs in and split the "toss up" games.

Concern about Orgeron has never been about the immediate future. It's been about the long term health of the program.

If we can all agree that this program cannot succeed long term under Orgeron, then why the hell is he here?

In another thread people were having a debate on who's worse, Orgeron or Hallman. Are you fricking serious? The very fact that that is a conversation is an indictment of where we are as a program.

Kinda, yeah I'll admit to this, because although 8-9 games wasn't considered success for the last guy, now it is. Because even though today most of the fanbase can see where this program is going, a lot of them have the memory of an earthworm and any short term success to them means we're on our way to the championship.

This is hyperbole. I havent seen many people say 6-6 is a foregone conclusion. I've seen some 6-6 or 7-5 predictions, but that doesnt translate into a foregone conclusion.

toss ups (in order of most probable wins):
Florida
State
Miami
Auburn

probable losses:
UGA
Alabama
(duh)

probable wins (in order of most probable win):
Ole Miss
Arkansas
A&M

definite wins:
USL
La tech
Rice

So I have us as having 6 probable or definite wins, 4 toss ups, and 2 probable losses. So IMO we could finish anywhere from 6-6 to 10-2. I expect 8-4 or 9-3. I also think beating UGA is not out of the question. We play them at home and they lost a lot of experience from their team this year. I'd like to say we could beat Alabama with that game being at home to, but I fully expect to be right in the game and lose at the end just like we have the last 3 times they've played in Baton Rouge.

OP, I like your post. I’m not happy with our situation but have a hard time talking shite about the coaches our program. I so badly want it to work out with this staff. On here, that is malarkey to most....but I just can’t fn help myself. Love LSU too damn much.

it's a lot easier to gloss over posts that predict doom and gloom, but there have been plenty of people predict and expect 6-6

The guy above named 5 things tho O has done.

I don’t like O and think he’s in over his head but the guys we have on defense alone should be more than enough for you to feel at the very least hopeful for next season.

What the haters don’t get is that THEY ARE LOWERING THE BAR for O. If they constantly predict that we will go 5-7 or 6-6, it will make O look like he has surpassed expectations when he wins 8 or 9 games.

If they would look at the roster and get on the narrative that a team this talented on defense and with this much potential on offense should win 10 games then it’ll look a lot worse when O doesn’t abd quicken his exit.

If everyone expects 6-6, then 8-4 doesn’t look all that bad. If everyone expects 10-2, 8-4 looks like the failure that it is.

Exactly. Thats the point I am trying to make, man. In truly successful programs, hiring supplemental staff and signing juco players are blips on the radar, not things you hang your hat on.

There is a ton of uncertainty/criticism/doubt surrounding the program right now, and unfortunately there aren't enough positives happening to swing the masses. The feelings of mistrust, uncertainty, anger and pessimism stem from that. It is going to be a long off-season, but CEO, players and staff should take pride in knowing that winning is the quickest/easiest way to turn people around. Do what you say you are going to do, and win games. Its that simple.
