I noticed something real interesting towards the end of the season.

This team is getting very tough physically. I've noticed how many opponents, including Alabama, who were physically punished by LSU. That is a good sign for sure if we continue to keep physically wearing down teams. It's been a while since I've seem that.

Yep. We punished Bama so badly, their QB was falling to his knees on their last possession!

I didn't get to see the Bama game. If we physically abused them how did we lose by 14 points? I'm asking this with serious intent.

They have a QB who made plays when needed. Bama was banged up pretty bad and opened the door for Miss St.

In all honesty, the missed sack on Bama’s first drive, and two catchable drops by our wrs were the difference. I watched it and felt that we’d out played them, especially physically. So I watched watched about 45 mins worth of lsu/Bama games over the past 3 years to compare, and there was an obvious difference.

Stats are deceiving. The Gump's offensive play calling was very vanilla because they were in control of the game the entire time and didnt want to make any unnecessary errors. They were just as vanilla with their defensive calls. Other than Williams huge wildcat run, they kept the game in front of them and were in complete control.

LSU played well down the stretch and as soft as they were early in the year, they were just as tough in the latter. They completely shut down people in the 2nd half of games down the stretch. This isnt get enough attention.

But, unfortunately, you have to play the entire year and being soft as cotton against Miss St and Troy counts.

A few costly mistakes, and Etling couldn’t hit open targets.

We outgained them for the first time in forever. Held the running game in check (RBs) and controlled the LOS for the most part

Last time we outgained them and controlled the LOS was 2012, a game we should have won. They outgained, outrushed, and controlled the LOS for the last 4 years so even though we lost it was a step in a direction

Do you think Bama could point to any bounces that could have gone their way to make it even worse? I mean, they waived off a touchdown at the end of the game that could have put them up by 21, and you're acting like but for the coin toss, we would have won.

You don’t think we played Bama more physical this year than previous years? Please tell me the last time we matched them physically

We didn't physically beatdown Alabama back in November. And that game's outcome was never in doubt. If our offense had been as adept as our defense was that night, we might have made it at least close.

Sure, but I think we did play tough and am simply explaining how that doesn’t always translate on the scoreboard.

Well, if our offense had a pulse in 2016, we could have won. Our defense played them pretty solidly last season, even better than this season.

In 2015, they killed us. In 2014 and 2012, we probably should have won those games. In 2011, we beat them. So yes, we played them better this season than in 2015.

Several Bama players were knocked out of the game.

No we didn’t. It was different feeling than a 2015* type game where they physically beat us down though.

We held our own but missed our shots

We punched Damien Harris and that OL in the mouth.

Smart move considering how many of their players we knocked out of the game and that we were still grabbing that QB's face mask 2 plays earlier. Go be a dick somewhere else.

I agree with this observation and had noticed the same.
