I need to eat a small serving of crow.

Kudos to O for pulling Joe Burrow. Burrow is the biggest recruit for LSU since Leonard Fournette. Polished QB’s that are ready to plug n play are VERY rare. LSU has no stud running back to fall back on this year and Brennan and Narcisse are not ready to lead us (yet). We have a very strong receiving core that can only be used with an above average QB. Joe gives us that day 1.
LSU’s reputation at QB is legendarily bad with hyperbole galore surrounding the position here. Danny Etling just had a 2 int year and got drafted yet nationally people still think he was god awful bc he was LSU’s QB.
People scoffed at Ensminger’s tweet about most QB’s drafted in the SEC last 20 years, but that still raised eyebrows. Raise your hand if you actually knew that. It changed perception.
So kudos to Ed Orgeron for living up to his billing as a good recruiter. Bc this kid could have gone To schools like Florida, Cincy (where he was well connected), UNC with Larry Fedora a master QB developer and any number of schools with better QB reputation than LSU. But he chose us.
I’ll take my small serving of crow.
Ed O gets bumped up from an F+ grade to a D. This is his second impressive coaching feat to me. The other was keeping the team’s head in the game after losing to Troy. Both feats were after self-inflicted wounds though so let’s not dump him with Gatorade quite yet.
I am however excited to see this football team for this first time this offseason. I think we’re primed to win 10 games.

This might be the most talented team in the SEC. they are going to turn some heads

This! Very rare for someone to admit to being wrong, especially on the Rant. Kudos
Every true tiger fan should be pulling for O and our coaches to succeed. No, I don’t like that he’s our head coach, but we have no choice - I prefer to be optimistic than miserable.
Also, I love his recruiting style. Les recruited the sexy positions very well, but didn’t excel at recruiting the trenches. We often looked like the most talented team, but couldn’t match up in the trenches - the #1 reason we lost to Alabama every year (and Arkansas frequently).

I’ve always pulled for my Tigers including O. I just never thought he was the man for the job. I still don’t, but let’s give credit where credit is due. Just like I deliver criticism when criticism is due.

Yes. It’s O’s job to put talented players on the field and put them into positions to succeed. Anything short of that is the head coaches fault.
