And people are melting over the defense.

We are winning by large Margins and everyone is shitting on the D. So we aren’t the perfect team. Were any of those Bama NC winning teams perfect? Hell no. Our defense has held when it HAD to. Catastrophe syndrome at its finest.

Regarding the defense against Ole Miss, everyone has bad days / weeks. I think Ole Miss is gimmicky-good enough time put up yards on offense, but no one really took them seriously because their defense is a sieve. Our Tigers had to get up for tough games 4 times this year, including 2 on the road. It is reasonable to conclude they were tired and not motivated for a cold arse late-season game up in Runtville.

Has anyone ever considered that this “slumping” D is all part of the overarching plan?

“Hey Dave, play a base D against Ole Miss..if they get loose a few times, no big deal, I’m pretty sure we can outscore them; it’s not unheard of for them to put up points, they hung 30ish on Bama - but DONT give anything away - we’ll call it accordingly and switch it up if we have to.”

Let other teams think they have an offensive game plan against us and then, implement your scheme = success.

It’s a lonnnngggg way to the end goal which is a ring. I wouldn’t show my best cards now either, especially when I have this type of offense. DBU can all but seal the crown for you if you play the cards right these last few games.

Not being good in defense in defense is one thing getting gashed by a no name QB repeatedly is another. Specially when you know that is the only play they are running.

Melting? You know what I "love"? I love how people "melt" over accurate assessments. The defense has been bad the majority of the year. That is just a fact. It does not exclude LSU from national title contending status. It does, however, make the road MUCH more difficult.

The old "they've had stops when they needed them" excuse is the lamest of all, IMO. It's so easy to sit back, while the offense is putting up record numbers, and say that because the team is 10-0, the defense is therefore getting stops when they need it.

Are you really suggesting that LSU just decides when it "needs" a stop? If so, are you telling me that they know exactly how many points the offense is going to score, and so they can just take drives off until they "need" a stop? Could it be, perhaps, that LSU simply wins in spite of it's defense?

Now, sure, the defense has had it's moments. We already know they have talent, which is exactly why their overall performance is so disappointing. If LSU is going to win the national championship, the defense is going to have to play better than it has.
