…that this is the same board that legit had people bitching and moaning about the 2019 football team at some point. So the complaining about a baseball team that was left practically in shambles by the old coach and overachieved this season would cause a meltdown regardless.

The pitching was anyway. And the offense…eh.

It’s asinine. They act like this is the first CWS we’ve ever missed out on.

Failing to win 1/2 is pretty bad. It’s a tarnish on the season.

Let’s hope season 2 at LSU is a better outcome than season 2 at Arizona

I hate saying this, but many need to reset their expectations on what a successful baseball season looks like nowadays. We’re going to make Omaha again soon, and we might even win a NC, but we’re not going to make it every year. We didn’t have the team this year. Hopefully we will next year.

Really in the bull pen.. pitching and defense wins championships and Jordan Thompson was one of the worse fielders on the team LAST season with Doughty not far behind and they are ones you don’t win all those games without those 2 guys for damn sure at the plate. The rest of those “great hitters” in Cranford and Merrifield were just not that good. We will see what Jay can do with them if they get them in for another year.

No kidding. We’ve made Omaha 3 times in 11 seasons (not counting 2020) before this year. The program slipped under PM and CJJ is going to need a year or two to get us back.

Exactly. We need to give CJJ more time. Another year or two, some good recruiting classes, and we’re back to the top. We’ve slipped, but not far enough that we can’t rebuild quickly.

No one thinks the CWS is automatic, but if Baton Rouge isn't hosting a regional by his third year, it's time to move in a different direction.

How did his year 2 Arizona team compare? Which year was it he took another team back? Not that far apart moron.
Please enlighten me on your all knowledge as to why we would expect a fall off? Not saying they don’t because of roster turn over but you can’t insinuate what happened at Arizona is the same thing that will happen at LSU where one program is that much better in EVERY WAY.

Hypothetically I would agree, and if not a different direction, his seat would be very hot for year 4

Another year or two,

How about 3-4 to get back to Omaha. I would see a host in 2 years after we get this class in as a reasonable expectation.
Never can tell with freshman and what the draft will hurt.

Arizona barely snuck in a regional after making the cws.

JJ - year 1 cws
Year 2 regional
Year 3 and 4 no tourny
Year 5 cws

This was only brought up a million times with the hire that he had two great seasons and 3 bad ones.

I think this is the issue most people have. It’s becoming a yearly occurrence!

The issue is losing the regional after being in complete control.

The team had flaws and they were just too much to overcome. Great line up but they make mental errors and fielded like a little league team all year.

So in 5 seasons AT ARIZONA he took 2 teams in the CWS and made regionals everyone traveling for 2. Is that what you’re saying?

People here have no idea how bad our 2020 baseball team was. We would not have made the SEC tournament much less a regional.
