re: I don't get how people can't see this LSU team is very, very good.

No way this team doesn't win ten games. And the sky is the limit.
Thank you. Most of the folks here who believe we are much better fail to give a win prediction.
I appreciate that you have done so.
I certainly wish the ever so frequent posters in this thread would do so as well.
It’s one thing to run your mouth (over and over and over again) in thread after thread after thread but another to not have the balls to make an actual prediction.
Prolific numbers of posts are meaningless if you don’t/can’t/won’t make an actual win prediction.

prediction? does O get his 10 wins this year?
10 wins easily. Question is can Eaux get to 11 or 12. Given the talent on this roster and the coaching squad Eaux has brought on, I think he get to 11.

but there's no reason for the offense to be at the same level of last year. Coach Orgerons career hinges on the changes he has made.
Honestly, this is where O has screwed the pooch in the past though. When you're so wound up on the success of every move that you make, the tendency is too hold on too tightly and second guess everything. I could see us suffering from some offensive paralysis by analysis.

I swear to God, if CEH doesn't at least get 2-3 screen attempts per game I'm punching babies. LSU hasn't had a screen game since, well, you get it.

Have some excitement and hope
I always have hope. What I don't have is blind faith that what I watched last season will not happen again. O got his year to prove himself and he failed. This year my hope is mixed with a reality gained from the disappointment of 2017.

Seems like the consensus is cautious optimism with a chance of greatness.
With so much being new this season, it’s hard not to be a little hesitant as far as “very, very good”; but I think all the pieces are there just a matter of them being to gel together. The D looks damn good and the O looks potentially damn good.

So sue me. I used an example that I figured most people had heard of.
kinda like when people use the comparison that Saban lost to UAB in 2000, or that Saban lost to ULM in 2007. but noooooo they aren't trying to compare the two. They simply want to estimate, measure, or note the similarity or dissimilarity between the two.

Jesus tap dancing Christ. The comparison was simply based on measurables. The stats were thrown out to show you don't need to be 6'1 230lbs to be a great, durable RB. Move on already. I provided a list on the last page of current and former NFL back with similar size.

Underachieved.
And what does that have to do with the upcoming season? Changes have been made since last season. New QB, new kicker, LSU will have a Biletnikoff award candidate as WR. A new passing game coordinator. New support staff that is already breaking down future games for the upcoming season.

In comparison to past years, our recruiting underachieved.
Were you disappointed when DJ Chark was signed? He was a 3-star. You don't know if the recruiting has underachieved until the players take the field.

Last years QB got a signing bonus, NFL contract and is still on a NFL roster
Yes and it didn't surprise anyone. Like it was expected.
quote:
This years QB has hardly played in two years and has never faced a SEC defense.
Neither had the guy who got an NFL signing bonus and contract until his junior season after transferring from the Big 10. Just like the new guy who is going to take the field for LSU.

What's really amazing is that you listed all these glowing points about the team without saying anything about the coaching
It's his thread he can talk about what he wants. Are there guidelines that point out that if you mention certain things in a post that you are required to also talk about other subjects as well? Please post it because I was not aware of this one.

Maybe you have forgotten already how O fricked his first OC hire
Maybe he didn't and is just smart enough to realize that it has nothing to do with the 2018 LSU football season. He isn't still pouting about it like you are.
quote:
Maybe you forgot O played a SOS around 30 and still found a way to lose four games
Maybe he realizes that the team 2 states to the East did also and still won a national championship. Maybe he realizes that the LSU head coach didn't get to hand pick the schedule and get to make it any better.
quote:
still found a way to lose four games
He found a way to lose to the national championship team? Wow, that's horrible. Maybe the OP paid attention and realizes that LSU beat the team that beat both teams that played for the national championship. And then looks at the moves that were made to improve the team since then and feels optimistic.

but to act like its a given before the first game is played is more blind faith that anything else.
Couldn't the same be said for your lengthy post? Nothing you rambled on about has anything to do with the upcoming season except the new OC. Last years strength of schedule - NOPE, last years losses - NOPE, underachieving last season in your opinion - NOPE, underachieving in recruiting - NOPE, Etling and NFL bonus - NOPE, Canada for this season - NOPE.
Whole lotta NOPE in your post.

Aint gonna happen. LSU fans being optimistic about the upcoming season pisses off some of the people who frequent this board. Makes you wonder why.

Some people have a one-track mind. A simple comparison of height and weight between two players at the same position somehow ignited the few brain cells they have and now they are stuck trying to argue semantics.
It was really a very simple and straightforward post that shouldn't be taken any other way than its purpose. But, we are on the rant with Rantards so.....

Have you had a chance to look at LSU's TD and scoring percentages in the red zone last year? It would be pretty damn difficult to be any worse. And that could be said even if LSU didn't sign a new FG kicker and QB.

Ree's the one that keeps up with that type of stuff. I'm sure he'll know.
Oh I know, he’s the master of cherry picking and meaningless anecdotes. He also completed ignores past arguments like bragging about Canada and the Broyles award when it no long suits his agenda. He’s an O fan, not an LSU fan.

quote:I'm with ya, but your claim that the OL will be better is dubious at best: Losing Clapp and Ingram (for different reasons) hurts your case for an improved OL. Let's hope that Cush comes through and Ingram comes back.
QB, WR, TE, OL will all be better than last year. The defense is better not just overall, but across the board.

I know it’s a message board, just think we need to let a few things shake out prior to crowning a very unknown team

The fact remains that his stature was slighter than CEH's
And he last played 20 years ago. What was the “stature” of the defensive lineman and linebacks in the Big VIII in 1988?
