I believe Eyanson will start and throw 50+ pitches.

There's too much on the line to risk playing another game tomorrow and having to burn Kade in an elimination game. He can then turn around and pitch on Monday if necessary. Willams to follow Anthony and Shores to close it out.

He's not starting. Get that out of your head. Now he very well might come in and close it

Dumb way to look at it. We need to avoid Thursday if we can. Especially since Coastal is going to win and will have tomorrow off

That’s ridiculous

I don’t see Eyanson starting, but I think he would close for the same reason…winning this in game 3 is extremely valuable and frankly needed.

If he starts tonight we are guaranteed to not win a title this year. That would be stupid.

You got 5 downvotes but you are correct. Now I won't say guaranteed series loss but it would make it extremely difficult against a rested really good pitching staff. I hope we can avoid using eyanson and evans today or to.orrow and then we will be set up just like coastal

You do that and you risk blowing the championship series. You only go to him if you have to. That would be a terrible move and Jay isn't dumb so it's not happening.

What?

If he starts and we win,

We would still have Anderson game 1 finals and Evans game 2 finals with Eyanson for game 3 if necessary

Evans is a good pitcher but you might need him for Friday to even win. If you lose Friday then what? You have a freshman on the mound who's very good but he's not Eyanson good. You have 1a and 1b when it comes to LSU's aces and nobody else really has that luxury. It's a huge advantage. You could seal that series up in the first 2 games. You don't want it stretched to a day 3 and Evans might be needed in relief more than ever.

Agreed. Winning tonight is the only way all three start this weekend. You can cross your fingers on a bullpen game or start Eyanson tonight. If he starts tonight, like you said, then he can pitch game three.

no you’re dumb if you think Johnson isn’t thinking about it this way. This is why he plays chess while tRant plays checkers.
Look no further than 23. Johnson played the long game and knew UF couldn’t win Game 3 so he sacrificed his knight on Thursday (Skenes in a must win game) and his queen (Game 2) vs UF knowing he had Game 3 with what he had versus what they had.

It was a masterpiece at playing the long game.

They're not going to start him. He's on 2 days rest. If he comes into the game, he does it in relief to close the game out. That's it.

Also, starting him may fatigue him heavily by the time he does play in the championship series. If you didn't notice he threw a lot of pitches in the regional/super and he wasn't as sharp. They're not superman with their arms.

You only use him if you have to. Tonight is not a situation where you have to use him. Tomorrow is.

If you use both tomorrow, then you’re in big trouble this weekend. If you only use Eyanson tomorrow, then you could go home without using Anderson. Today is the day to use him. If you’re going to use him, then you start him.

Like what happened in 2023 when Skenes pitched Thursday and threw 0 pitches in 3 games against Florida?

It would be more of a circus if Eyanson and Kade both end up pitching tomorrow and put us in a bind for games 1 and 2 of CWS (win permitting of course)

No, because he'd still get played at 4 days rest if they made a game 3. That's a big if. You ideally do not want to use him at all in this scenario. LSU is just going to have to trust someone else to do it. If you can't rely on your bullpen then you're not going to do much in championship series anyway.

I meant him as the Friday guy. They don't start until Saturday, which is another reason not to pitch Eyanson unless you have to tomorrow.

Ideal scenario: beat piggies tonight, don't use eyanson, you have a full rested pen for anything. normal rotation.

if you're forced to use Eyanson, you do it on Thursday. If a game 3 happens he's on 4 days rest. He can come back on that.
