Kind of sounds like Jamal Adams or the Honey Badger. And we all know they'll never make a pro bowl.

Probably none

Had they moved him to lb early on may be different

How many 230lb safties make the Pro Bowl? He didn't have a clear position in the NFL and that hurt his draft stock.

I heard it loud and clear from the opposite end of the East uppers. That man was an incredible athlete. I still feel terrible that it ended like that. But, I'm sure he's thankful they were able to save his leg.

Phenomenal athlete, above average safety.

Potentially, just POTENTIALLY, he could've really improved in the NFL with complete focus on one sport and trainers/dieticians getting him to a better size for the position.

Apparently a buddy of mine had no clue who he was at the time. I was like dude you know the Patrick Peterson windmill? He was the one that was waived on to score. Friend was really pissed off at himself for that one

How on Earth could an LSU fan remember Peterson's windmill single play and not Chad Jones the player?

He was a better tackler but pass defense is where he struggled. He was torched quite a bit in those 08 and 09 defenses. That’s also the reason he went in the 3rd round unlike the other 3 who were first round picks. No comparison between Jones and Jamaal. I’d take Jamaal 10/10 times.

Zero. Chad Jones was a great athlete but had limited upside as a pure safety

He was a 3rd round pick which is nothing to scoff at. Certainly the NFL thought he had ability as a safety.

Agreed, doubt he was going to be an elite nfl player. He was okay to slightly above average in college

This makes zero sense

Huh?

He didn't even start in '08 for who knows why in Mallevetoland.
McCray and Coleman were our safeties.

Every DB loses a battle but exactly when did he get torched?

Maybe it was mentioned earlier but he saved a TD vs Bama in their opening drive '08. Just an amazing play that won't be remembered because of how the score turned out.

One of my most prized possessions is a jersey Chad signed-he’s my all-time favorite athlete. After reading about the grueling rehab he went through after the wreck, I have no doubt he would have put in the work to be an elite pro. One of my favorite things about him is that he obviously had fun playing. I hope he’s doing well.

Dreadlocks of Doom. His Arkansas hit was one of the most memorable I’ve ever seen.

I still mystified why he didn't pursue baseball. Left handed throwing gas with a killer slider?! MLB would've thrown him millions to work every other day as a middle reliever or closer. Dude could just sit around every other day watching baseball from the pen. And I know he had a third pitch I'm forgetting. Dude would have been ridiculously rich just for throwing 1-3 innings every couple days or three.

Truth

He was kind of part of a disturbing trend that happened to several guys under the Miles regime, better athletes as freshmen vs. when they left

The safety who followed him as a starter was an upgrade in coverage, not that anyone wants to hear that

People will downvote the hell out of this but it it is true.

Agreed. I wouldn’t take jones over Delpit, adams, Landry, or Matheiu who are all playing or played safety at a high level in the nfl.

Chad Jones is my all time favorite tiger. As far as pro bowls, we will never know. But nobody can deny his talent and athleticism.

I always thought he would have been moved to OLB in the NFL

He tried after his injury for 2 years but never made it. While his leg was saved, it was still a very serious injury that caused a major deformity in his thigh. To me, w/o the injury, he had a higher ceiling as a reliever or closer and probably a longer career.
