I know Chad Jones and Jared Mitchell have in baseball and football. I think they're the only two in the modern era who have.

Mo Hampton had a chance to breathe that rarefied air. Wished he'd stuck around.

I so badly wanted to say Bo Jackson, but Auburn never even won a baseball regional while he was there. In 1983, football was named champion by several organizations, but they don't claim it.

While it would have technically been possible for him to get one in baseball as well as football, how likely do you think it is that it would have happened while he was still here?

If he stayed through his senior year and took advantage of his COVID year, 50/50 with all the young talent on the baseball team. 20-30% if he stays through next season then goes pro.

He's already got a football championship. He was on the 2019 team.

Unless Mo played on the 2009 baseball team he wasn’t winning a national championship in baseball.

i don’t follow track to know who won natty’s, but that and football seem to be the most likely pairing of sports for LSU to produce multi-sport title guys

Just another proof that for 99% of the athletes, playing for two sports in college level while maintaining a healthy GPA academically is just too much of a stretch. Had Hampton stuck with one sport from the get-go, I feel like we would be seeing a much different story here. Just unfortunate.

Bama probably went ahead and claimed it for them then.

I agree with this.

Mo is a great athlete. But SEC baseball is played at a pretty high level. When I saw him play a year ago in Minutemaid he looked like a natural. But his timing was off batting and he misjudged a ball in the OF.

Had he stayed on the 2-spory track he should have realized it might be his 3rd year in baseball before he's adjusted to this level of play.
