we are young here and I'm hopeful that we can improve going forward, but I worry this may be a concern as it has been the past few seasons.

Special teams overall are not up to par.

Be patient. The kid got his miss out of the way. He will be fine.

Won't need them when we score 70 a game

Got great height on the ball. His miss was well struck, just pushed it. I think he will be fine

FG's...we'll be OK. G was 2-3 versus BYU. He missed his first one, probably too nervous.

Culp on KO's...I am unsure of his success.

Did we ever punt??? :-)

Missing the first attempt in the first game is not a reason to be concerned.

I hate college kickers. So very much.

I don't see a reason on the horizon to change my opinion.

My concern stems as much from our FG kicking the last 3 years than it does from the miss. We've been pretty mediocre in that department the last couple years.

I'm cautiously ambivalent right now.

Have to hope that first FG was just nerves and he's settled in now. Another missed one next week and I'll worry.

My thought is that every kicker is going to miss a kick from time to time. I'd rather it be one that has no significance than one that matters in a big moment. I chalk it up to nerves this time around.

I feel good about it. Watching both of them warm up from the sidelines last night, gonsoulin was hitting them much more solidly then culp. You could see and hear the difference of the ball coming off of gonsoulins foot. I think he'll be a pretty dependable kicker when it's all said and done.

To follow up, the Texas kicker barely got his extra points over the lineman, it was a disaster waiting to happen. Of course he got one blocked and returned for a TD soon after.

Trent Domingue had an issue with low kicks as well and hit an occasional wtf ugly ball. And he was still solid overall.

Gonsoulin's trajectory was ideal. He's got the skill, hopefully he has the mental toughness. You can never predict that for a kicker, Cade Foster was one of the most highly touted high school kickers ever and was an absolute disaster in college.

Guy misses his first kick under 35 yards. Not very confident. Hopefully it was nerves.

Way way to early to tell...can't judge off of the miss...if that is your point of the thread?
