How can we be unranked with all the talent we have on the roster?

I’m glad we’re unranked. After the past two years we clearly need motivation going into the season. I’m not concerned with BK leading us.

Because as of now, we have done nothing to prove that we will be a top 25 team. Give it a couple of months and things will change.

The last 2 years showed why we should be unranked. If Kelly does the job I think he will, the polls will start changing their opinions quickly...

There are serious depth issues at LB and CB. And the RB and QB situation, while seemingly talented, is largely unproven. Brand new staff which takes time to gel with new players.
We are right where we should be at this point. Win and it wont matter where we were in August.

Because of one huge question mark: defensive coordinator.
Everyone always wants to talk about the QB. But the biggest unknown is DC, and that has more to do with Ws and Ls than anything else, and nobody really knows how this defense is going to play in 2022.

Ed O would have won 3 or 4 games this fall had he stuck around. Kelly has moved mountains to get this roster competitive.

7-5/8-4 is the expected, not the ceiling. Ceiling for this team this year is probably 11-1.

Shitting the bed the past two seasons will do that. Plus a new HC that's unproven in the SEC and yes, a QB without a definitive starter as of yet.

It is really amazing.
The fact that LSU's defensive backfield and offensive line look to be fine if not strengths is simply incredible. Complete rebuild in one offseason.
Seems likely that a solid majority of LSU's top 20 or so players will be guys who weren't on the roster last season.
