I love the part about the A&M Regional. It’s one of my first vivid memories of LSU baseball - listening to those games on the radio. I was 8. Paul Byrd’s interview is just gold. “It’s a scam...”

They didn’t even discuss Ben McD to right field.

“Look at this guy, he’s 15-0 but his ERA is 6.2. He’s horrible.”

“Game 1 is already ours. We got Ben McDonald on the mound.” #severalbourbonsdeep

Listened to hold the rope at the Skip Bertman baseball camp, the summer LSU won the first National Championship. Chad Odjea told us the exact same thing he said on the show. Gave me chills when I watched it on ESPN!!

As did his brother Terry who didn’t get kicked off the team and was an intelligent dude.

In 1985, he hit a hanging curve ball of my little cousin to the married student apartments in left field. The wind was blowing out, but it didn’t need help. There used to be 1 or 2 fences beyond the left field fence at the Old Box. It cleared everything.

Guess I am getting to be the old man. I remember where I was listenening to both games from college station. Dad bbq that afternoon and late that night I was nervous wondering if the Tigers could do the impossible.

Anything you can vividly imagine, if you ardently desire it, if you sincerely believe that you’re worthy of it and you enthusiastically act upon it every day, it must - absolutely MUST come to pass.

Hearing Skip tell the long version of Hold the Rope is one of the best stories you will ever hear. I have searched for it online for a long time but cannot find it. If anyone has a link please post it.

Most of this stuff in the show was in Skip's book, "Skip: The Man and the System". Great read for any Tiger baseball fan and full of Skip wisdom.

Wasn’t that book written after the 1991 season?
About half of he documentary happened after that.
