According to the Advocate;
“The lineup was productive but was 3 for 20 with runners in scoring position, leaving 12 stranded.”

Just score 2 of those and LSU might be playing today. These kids can’t seem to hit with pressure on. Remember Blake Dean? Mr. Clutch. Remember Blair Barbie’s? Lyle Mouton. I could go on. Johnson HAS to work on clutch & situational hitting. Why in the crap did he have Dugas bunt and try to score Travinski? He’s big. Can’t run.

Lsu has hit just fine this year with risp. You are zeroing in on one game

If you disagree, please explain the process of hitting in the clutch and how come no team has every been able to “hit in the clutch” consistently

I've watched more than one game that this has happened. Vs scrubs too. What you think gonna happen when the opponent skill level ramps up? Ah screw it it's baseball anyway.

It's been several games, and mostly games late in the season. It is a real problem when we can't get runs in, and CJJ panics by squeezing Travinski home on a bunt when no one has ever taught him how to slide properly. Oh yean, and he's fricking slow.

The same thing that happened at the beginning of the SEC schedule when they regularly drove in runners. They had a downturn late in the season, but the same players drove in 45.8% of baserunners overall in conference compared to 45.6% for the other 5 top scoring teams in the league. That means they were even better than that against top competition.

Been ok with RISP for the year, but the problem is bigger than one game. We have seen it more in the past month. Relief pitching has killed us but RISP faltered about the time Crews became human.

Negative, it's been a trend for at least the last 2 to 3 weeks. It was a problem in the Auburn and Miss State series. Lsu has left to many runners stranded on base.

According to Jay's comment, it's been "PHENOMENAL" the past 2 years!

I didn’t like this either. Why are we all of a sudden trying to bunt the past few weeks when we haven’t done it all year?

I assume its to practice bunting for when we may need it it in a tight game late in the postseason. Giys like thompson, milazzo, and i guess dugas may be expected to do that

Was it a problem in the georgia series? Is it really a problem or a result that you sero in on when we dont hit a ton?

Do you think there are teams who dont struggle with risp?

Yes, for the last 12 SEC games they have had trouble scoring runners. In the first 21 SEC games they were better than average with the same players. Being great at it in those 21 games didn’t predict that they would be bad the next 12. Being bad on average over those 12 games did not keep them from doing well in some games. They did well against SC and in 3 of 6 games against Georgia and Miss St. In other words, it’s random over small sample sizes. Overall, LSU has been average at scoring runners on base, which is good when they are one of the best in the country at getting runners on.

I get that, but why are we starting to practice bunting a week before postseason play begins. That’s shite you do during the first month of the season.

We hit pretty good with RISP against SC on Wednesday when we scored 10 runs. Did pretty good against GA last weekend too. So the last 2 games we didn’t. Most likely they are pressing. Hopefully JJ gets them refocused and ready to rake next weekend. They didn’t suddenly forget how to hit. BP is a bigger issue than hitting.

It's no so much just hits with RISP, it's having productive ABs period. We had an inning against SC where we hit 2 sac flies in a row with runners on base. We just didn't do that much the final 2 games.

It’s not necessarily getting a hit with RISP…..it’s scoring the runner from third with less than 2 outs. And it hasn’t been just one game.
