Getting all sorts of crap from Gaturds about playing Pre-Game at start of fourth quarter.
I know we played it when I was there, 79-82, but when did it first start?
How long have we been playing it?
Link?

Found it.
“ William F. Swor, who served as band director from 1964 to 1976, is credited with the "Pregame/Touchdown for LSU" arrangement, which made its debut in 1964.”
So we’ve been playing it for about 60 years and they want to give us crap about stepping on their “tradition.”
Petty passed away in 2017. 5 years does not a tradition make.

Let's not leave out that our tradition involves our actual band. Their "tradition" involves piped in music from a white trash addict that didn't even associate with their school.

I guess Florida fans also don’t expect any opposing bands to play as their team enters the field while their band plays for UF’s entrance. frick em.

Hey now, that's "a talented white trash addict".

Actually has a valid connection and played for their Homecoming event, Gator Growl, several times.
"As a young man, Petty worked briefly on the grounds crew of the University of Florida, but never attended as a student. An Ogeechee lime tree that he purportedly planted while employed at the university is now called the Tom Petty tree (Petty stated that he did not recall planting any trees).[17][18][16] He also worked briefly as a gravedigger."

What I said is still accurate. He did not associate with the university. He even contested the claim of him planting the tree.
The whole fricking thing is contrived deserves derision instead of respect.

Was that one of the songs that Huey Long and Castro Carrazo from the Roosevelt Hotel wrote?
It has been a staple since I have been going to the games in 1966. The only change that started a few years later was when the band pivots to play to the four corners of the stadium. I can remember that everyone thought that was so cool at the time. I still do.

If it's the start of the 4th quarter, is it still correct to call it "Pre Game"? I always thought it was "Hold That Tiger".

I think the particular piece of music is actually titled "Tiger Rag Fanfare" followed by "Touchdown LSU"
