It does not matter who wins, as long as the game is close. No team has dropped lower than No.4 the rest of the season. One exception, Michigan was No. 5 for one week. Here are the 5 matchups since 1991. Seems they want these two to meet again if possible. 4 of 5 match ups have produced the NC.

Note: Yes, I know we have the playoff system and not AP. Our schedule favors both and it's the only system in place since 1991. Home teams are on the right.

1991
No.1 FSU 16 No.2 Miami 17
FSU falls to 4, Miami 1
Miami wins the NC

1993
No.1 FSU 24 No.2 ND 31
FSU 2 ND 1
FSU wins the NC

1996
No.1 FLA 21 No.2 FSU 24
FLA 4 FSU 1
FLA wins the NC

2006
No.1 OSU 42 No.2 Mich 39
OSU 1 Mich 4
FLa wins NC

2011
No. 1 LSU 9 No. 2 Bama 6
LSU 1 Bama 4
Bama wins the NC

Stats show Nov. 9th only needs to be close and both teams are in. Provided they win out.

Doesn't matter.

If this LSU team plays its game like everyone knows they can; we're coming out of Tuscaloosa with a win.

Bama is a paper tiger this year. And LSU has a QB.

Bama will be up for the game. Coach Saban takes the game against LSU very seriously.

Interesting.

I would agree normally. Let's just SAY that Alabama beats LSU and Ohio State beats Penn State. Just to have something to go off. That gives you:

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson (They arent losing unless Wake pulls a miracle)

For that 4th spot, assuming LSU and Penn St win out everywhere else you'd have:

11-1 LSU
11-1 Penn St
12-1 Oklahoma (Big 12 champ)

That's assuming the Pac 12 further cannibalizes itself and the champ has 2 losses.

It will be a dogfight to get in to that last spot. I think LSU would be deserving, but Penn State would feel the same way. Oklahoma might be a little less eager to say they deserve in after getting stomped by Kansas St.

All of this is without taking UGA/UF into consideration. Winner of LSU/Bama has to play them and the winner of WLOCP will be top 10 going into it.

I'd rather not worry about it. I hope we win out from here.

The difference is Burrow. Saban can take it as seriously as he wants. His 5 true Freshman defensive starters (4 of which who operate in the middle of his defense) are going to be in over their heads.

That's where this game will be won.

Interesting info, OP.

Still waiting on this. Oregon has cut it really close the last two weeks against Washington and Washington State but pulled out a win. I'll feel a lot more comfortable when they lose again. Utah only has one loss as well and travels to Washington this week as a 2.5 point favorite.

He has to.

1) Louisiana recruiting has been paramount in the restocking of the Bama bench.

2) In spite of the string of consecutive losses, LSU remains the biggest threat to Alabama.

It's all about trying to keep the metaphorical thumb on LSU, and have a viable knock against LSU for recruiting.

I did this earlier for Bama if they lose. For LSU if they lose, there is not one, 1 loss team that would get in over them but Oklahoma.

IMO, we need Oklahoma to win out if we beat Bama, to keep Bama out of the playoffs. We need them to lose at least once again (not to Baylor unless they also finish with one loss), to keep them from jumping us after their conference championship, if we lose to Bama.

My whole thought on this is that both Ohio St and Clemson go undefeated.

Yep and we better not be Uber conservative. We have to come out gun-slinging like we did against Texas.

If LSU loses to Bama and is 11-1 it will be hard for them to justify not putting LSU in there over the other 11-1 teams.

They will have to consider the schedule and the quality of the 1 loss. The only reason to justify leaving them out is that they don't want 2 SEC teams in there. They had it last year. So there is precedent to have 2 SEC teams in there.

I don't think there is anyway OU jumps LSU if they both have 1 loss when you look at their schedule and conference and the fact their loss is to K State.

Not this year. Excepting something unexpected, the loser will drop to #5. Fla/UGa provide a hard stop at that point. PSU/OSU as #4/#1 would then play in late Nov. What if OSU as #1 lost in a close game there?

Jackson County has ALWAYS been a BAMA hotbed, really part of the Mobile shopping market, and major part of Ingalls workforce is from South Alabama.
