You hear every name other than Mike Leach's thrown around on here, why is this? He may not talk like us, but there are other general, mutually common traits: he's conservative, likes to be close to his boat, believes in discipline (admittedly went a bit overboard with some anchor's son once), and quirky (something Baton Rouge has shown not to mind, as long as you win).

Speaking of winning, this is what Leach does at lesser programs with minimal resources. Imagine giving him the resources that come with being the HC at LSU, and I guarantee you he will not be complaining about a weak offensive line. If you want to beat Saban, you don't hire conventional, inside the box coaches. You hire a brilliant mind that can consistently win without the means to do so; and then, open the floodgates.

At the age of 56, it's not too late to grab him.

he has stated numerous times he likes coaching at places that don't have huge expectations to win and he is noted for putting in very little work relative to other major college coaches.

He's wayyyyy too laid back to want to coach at LSU

I like him. good coach. but he doesn't like to run at all. he is just not a good fit. the rant would go berserk about us not being able to run the ball with a power running game.

People throw around his name because he's well-known, regardless of whether he'd actually be good for the job. I not necessarily opposed to Leach but I'd imagine there are other people ahead of him to consider.

this is simply false.

Given the kind of "talent"(if you can even call it that) he has coached and won with, he's record is quite impressive.

When he actually had a little talent at Tech, his teams were really really really good

He is a pretty good coach, and very interesting.. but I think he would not be liked here for very long.

Now I would definitely take him over O.

That's the problem with LSU fans.....it's never good enough. Oh, we have one of the top rated passing programs in college footballl.....the guy sucks, we NEED to be able to run in the SEC. Wait, we have the best rushing attack in football.... We are doomed, we NE a pro style offense that utilizes more passing. Then we get a good QB, who knows how to manage the field and run plays properly.....ahhhhh , but he's not an SEC caliber QB

It's never good enough. Leach produces prolific offenses and has done so for years whether he was on Mumme's staff at Kentucky or along with Mangino on Stoop's staff at OU when they won a national championship. He goes to Texas Tech and he takes a perennial football after thought and by his 5th year turns them into a team to be reckoned with . He had Graham Harrell back there in 2007 and 2008 when he beat Texas and Oklahoma

But wait, his record is not good - 118-67....About 61%
Saban's was 63 % when LSU hired him and Miles was a 500 coach

You give a guy like Leach the resources of LSU and access to the skill players in the Southeast and I guarantee you he gives Alabama a run for its money.

I feel Mike Leach would be the type of guy to get a user name and openly troll the Rant if he coaches here.

Why not? He ends up turning around programs wherever he has gone.

You are never going to get the Saban clone you are wishing for.

Maybe you need a crazy pirate to beat a control freak

Great! OJ just got out of prison. Briles will need an offensive coordinator.

Can we focus on one thing at a time? Gotta get rid of the shrimpboat captain first. And god forbid we spend more than 24 hours this time thinking it over if our first choice turns us down

I think he's hilarious and typically has a great offense. I wouldn't be upset if he was the hire

Mike Gundy is someone who's name is never thrown around when a team needs a new coach and he is an excellent head coach. I want him
